I haven't heard anything, but since ch 5 was only recently published, I expect it won't be for quite some time. It'll probably be an annual release manga at a guess. >_<; (I haven't heard anything about the upcoming Beans Ace manga yet, but it's supposed to be released in early Oct.).

Neeee Shadow-san (unrelated question)
do you have any recommendations on self-study material for japanese (beginner type stuff) there's a maze of crap on the net and i can't makeup my mind what to invest in. I have my old book from college (nakama) but it uses cassettes...which is like so ancient and i actually have to go out and find myself a cassette player if i want to use it ...

May I ask you a question that is not about Kokumono? My dream is to go to Japan. I allready made a list of places I would like to visit: Kyoto, Iga Ueno, Amanohashidate, Himeji, Mt. Koya, Matsumoto, Fuji Lakes (Hakone) and a little bit of Tokyo (but I am not really interested in it). I was wondering...do you know how many days I need to see the whole Kyoto? Is 4 days enough? I would like to squeeze this travel in 14 days...do you think it is possible?
Thanks a lot for your help... :)

There are always more things to find to do in Kyoto than you will have time. ^^; However, four days should definitely be enough to see the main sights. I've heard there's an English speaking taxi driver / tour guide that you can book for the day if you want to go that route, otherwise, catching the major sights is usually easiest via a one day bus tour. (Taxi for a day is better for more leisurely viewing). After that, you can then go to other less common places on your own and at your own pace. BTW, if you haven't been there yet I'd suggest, on one of those days, that you go to Nara. Like Kyoto, it has a lot of history. (There too, you'll always find more things to do than you'll have time).

I've never been to Iga Ueno so I'm not sure how long it would take to get there and see the place. As for the rest... it works on paper depending on the order you go places and how much time you allot yourself at a given place, but it will be fairly packed. Most likely you'd want to look at flying in to Tokyo and out of Kansai.

she is too fond of books

How far in the books has the anime gone? I'm curious how far ahead of us this is…

Ep 19 was basically the end of book 3. Ep 20 sounded like it would be an ep they mostly made up based on the prologue of book 4, but I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure. I don't really think the anime will catch up with the novels personally. ^^;

Re: ep 20

I *still* haven't found it! >_<;; I remember thinking from the preview in last week's ep that it would be a modded ep based around the prologue to book 4 but... I need to find it first. Seiran's still my fave character so I definitely want to see it...... *_*

Another new one.. I'm a bit confused here.. how many novels has been published so far? In Kadokawa's site (under Saiunkoku novel list), they only listed 8 volumes : はじまりの風は紅く, 黄金の約束, 花は紫宮に咲く, 想いは遙かなる茶都へ, 漆黒の月の宴, 欠けゆく白銀の砂時計, 心は藍よりも深く, and 光降る碧の大地 (9 with 紅梅は夜に香る under the new published label) plus 2 volumes of gaiden (朱にまじわれば紅 & 藍より出でて青). If you said 緑風は刃のごとく is the 12th installments of the series, then the gaidens are also included in the series as well? I thought there's 11 books available on the (novel) series, so when I asked a friend to help me get them, he said 11 volumes including the 2 gaidens.. (well.. don't mind much, actually). I've got my copy of volume 1 & 2, currently read as far as 50 first pages (wanted soooo much to read on if only I wasn't reminded all the tsls that due on next Wed ^^;; ) I found quite a number of difference between the anime and the novel.. Looking forward to look for more..
Btw, has added you as friend ^_^

So far, there are... 9 novels and two side story (gaiden) volumes. This one (to be released Oct 1) makes the 10th novel, so it's a bit hard to find any info on it as yet. I try to keep the novel count distinct from the book (volume) count, but it gets a bit weird/tricky to do sometimes. ^^;

Kadokawa's site has been a bit grumpy on me lately, but here's the link to the upcoming book:
