current mood: being divebombed

-_-;; Hot. I don't know if we actually hit 30 today, but it was darn hot, and that's where we're supposed to be for the next few days still. >_<;; I'm going melt into a small puddle of goo. Just mop me up and shove me aside somewhere... preferably somewhere cool until more reasonably temperatures prevail. -_-;;

The saving grace to today's awful heat is that we got some magazines from Iwase today including July's きょうの料理. I took one look at it and almost ignored it (it's featuring tofu of all things). >_<;; But when I noticed other items in the magazine, I ended up flipping through the whole thing. Sadly, the plan now is to make some sort of watermelon jelly (need to get a watermelon and some gelatin), a matcha soy drink (need matcha... need soy milk), and maybe a ginger ice treat (...I think we have everything for this one). There are lots of recipes in the magazine so I was really surprised at how much there is in it. The bad thing is, I think there are too many recipes in it. ^^;;

Kokumono ep 16 will hopefully be coming out sometime tomorrow. I guess that means we'll know if we're breaking in the middle of the current story before the four week re-run period, or if we'll be waiting to start the next story arc after it.

Ginny, if all goes well, I should have a file for you sometime tomorrow. (If it doesn't go well, it'll probably be another day still). ^_^;

Anyhow, I'm going into hiding. Some vampire's been making passes at me. :P

*ack* Stay cool, honey. I know your pain.

*fingers crossed* I hope they don't break in the middle. That would be too mean.

*scowls at vampires* Away with you!

Hope you're managing to stay cool out East. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news. They're breaking in the middle of the story. This could be harsh. >_<;;

Actually, now it's cooler and rainy here. But I had a lovely day, so it's good.

Hear that? The wail of agony? Yep, that was me. Sorry to disturb you.

(I need to learn the kanji for kokumono so I can search for those torrents, too. -_-)

Cool with rain is good! ^___^ Unfortunately, we're supposed to continue with high 20s and occasional storms. I want cooler temps... *whine* :P

is the Japanese kanji for the title, but if you use it plus "BT" you should be able to find some Chinese torrents for it (may or may not be subbed in Chinese). The Chinese characters are a bit different depending I suspect if they're using simplified or traditional but am not sure.

I've managed to snag a Chinese sub for ep 16

but really want to get hold of the raw. :P

I got ep. 15, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Soon! *nods*

^_^ When you have the chance. Otherwise, I realised one error while reading about this current ep, so I'll have to fix that when I get your edits. >_<;;

I might have to do a bit of fiddling as I've got pectin and agar-agar on hand but not literal gelatin. ^^; Still, there will be a great watermelon massacre tomorrow... :P

What manner of vampire exactly are we looking at? ;P

Tofu is goooooood for heat waves. Tofu is cooling, soul-cleansing food. Tofu, soy milk and jellies are all cool, calming foodstuffs! *nodnodnod* I could so do with some tofu and sugar syrup right now...

Tofu and sugar syrup? I've had dessert type tofu before (sesame tofu = yum) but haven't heard of this before. ^_^

Tofu and sugar syrup, tofu fa (flower tofu), is a Chinese dessert that's very popular in Southeast Asia. It's basically a very soft tofu, with a barely set custard consistency (much softer than silken tofu) eaten with either a brown or white sugar syrup that has been flavoured with a bit of ginger.

I found a recipe online here, but in my house, we skip the difficult tofu making part by using instant House brand Hon Tofu, which most Asian grocery stores seem to carry. The syrup is boiled sugared water with a slice of ginger popped in for the perfume and flavour. While tofu fah is very nice warm, it is also possible to eat it cold, depending on the weather. :)

I've tried Japanese sesame tofu, and I found it delicious! I really miss the tofu counters in Isetan (Kuala Lumpur) where I used to live. I'm a huge tofu eater, and Australia doesn't have quite the same range, unfortunately.

Thanks for the recipe! ^_^ It sounds really interesting so I'm thinking about giving it a try although I''ll probably have to hunt down the tofu itself. I can't imagine making my own tofu from beans... O_O;;

I'm not a huge tofu fan, but typically will say I don't like tofu rather than actually disliking it. A large part of that is probably because of the lack of variety here too. ^^;;

Much easier to get House Brand Tofu Hon and make instant tofu (the process is like making quick-set instant jelly). *nods* Having to make soybean milk the hard way is messy enough without the tofu part added on.

I like tofu because I came from a place with a huge variety of tofus and tofu dishes, but also because when I was in college, tofu and (Chinese/Indian) vegetarian food was the fastest, cheapest and easiest things I could cook. So I developed a liking for vegetarian food, and tofu. :)

But like you, it sort of kills enthusiasm when you live in a place where the variety is much less after that. :/
