Kokumono Ep 16 preview

July 16th, 2006 (02:33 pm)
blah

current mood: blah

Taking a break from ep 15. The narrative is going to be a bit of a pain. *sigh*

BTW, can anyone give me a good, descriptive word for shrimp's consistency when it's cooked well? I got as far as "firm" or "juicy" but they're not quite what I'm looking for. Hrmmm...

It seems that the ep trailer and NHK's next ep written preview are again slightly different although this time, they're much more clearly dealing with the same thing.

NHK's description:
Shuurei and Eigetsu, as usual, continue to be inundated with cleaning the lavatories and polishing shoes, as well as taking care of large amounts of paperwork and calculations. And the two continue to be on the receiving end of various pranks and bullying by the experienced officials. However, while their fellow examinees initially looked at them coldly, they start to rethink things as the two refuse to be defeated by the harsh treatment they receive. At that time, a rumour starts to spread that Shuurei had apparently cheated to pass the National Exams.

Ep Trailer:

Things are extremely busy with cleaning lavatories, polishing shoes and taking care of paperwork. I have to admit feeling a bit defeated by it all. No, that's no good Shuurei. You can't give up so easily on the dream that you'd only just realised!

So the question is, is the next ep the last for this story-line? It all depends on how they decide to execute it. FWIW, the drinking scene in this ep is actually from the omake CD drama and not from the novels. There are a number of other differences as well, but I'll go into those once I finish this ep's translation. Quite frankly, I wish we could have gotten the full force of Shouka-papa's scenes with Seiran and Kouyuu rather than the abridged version. (More so with Seiran since I like him so much). :P But we did get the tsu-tsu-ura-ura tenshin shugyou comment. ^___^ I agree, Kouyuu. What were you thinking when asking Reishin such a silly question?!? ^^;

She could cheat because none of the men could comprehend any other way a mere woman could pass, much less beat 17 other men. -_-

*casts sad eyes at Shadow* Stuff? Stuff that was left out (so surprised). You will fill us in, oh great fount of wisdom? *pleeeezeface*

-_-;; Yep. After all, women were never allowed to take the exams in the first place so how could she ever have managed to pass so high up in the ranking. Scenes to follow soon. I love Shouka-papa with Seiran. ^o^

Ouch! Hmm... over here, we've had no word yet which is usually a good sign. (Iwase usually phones if there's any problem or serious delays). It's still too early to tell if there's been a charge for the subscriptions on the credit card though. I just took a peek over at Amazon JP, and it looks like you can get hold of it there as well, but that's only useful if you're already putting in a book order with them (which is only really worthwhile if you're ordering a fair amount). Will let you know when we know for sure which way the subscriptions go for Iwase. ^_^

Cheers on that! While it's a bit high-end for the dish, I went with it anyways. ^o^ Translation is now up on the site.

The translation is for the site. Ep 14's sub was in the final stages and only needed it's last compile and UL. It's now up at:

Really looking forward to your episode 15 translation (although no rush of course, you do such a fabulous job I wouldn't care if it took you ages to get the translations done ^_^) and here's hoping the narrative gets a little easier!
