OT quick question
Haru fangirl (papermoon_icons)

Shadow, is [ 發春 ] the correct kanji for Haru's name? I'm pretty sure, but the font on the first character looks a lot different than the one used in the character book . . .

Re: OT quick question

Yup, it is. I think it just looks weird because it's so small... small kanji make my eyes hurt T_T

Re: OT quick question

Hmm, not quite. The proper characters are 潑春. ^_^

Re: OT quick question
umadoshi kanji

Kanji traumatize me. They really, really do. To my eye they become unrecognizably different as soon as the size changes, never mind the actual font. (And I have no idea how to control their font, so the way they display on my website is totally at the whim of some default setting somewhere.)

. . . since I'm already bugging you with it, may I ask you to glance at the pages and make sure the names read correctly? (I've just got the kanji for Haru and Rin's given names. We got "Isuzu" from the Wiki entry on her, but the kanji on Haru's entry looked way too different from the one in the Neko book. So I hope the one we used it actually correct. ^^)

*hugs* Thanks!

Re: OT quick question

Font changes can be a royal pain. There's one font that is often used on horror sites and is very flowy that often makes me go cross-eyed. ^^;

The kanji characters are correct, but you might want to clarify that Haru's name is based on 初春 which means first spring. 潑 = to sprinkle or pour (at least it was easier to find than Seiran's last name). >_<;;

Cheers!

Re: OT quick question
Haru pretty (soleil)

-_- I'm *so* glad Rin at least has a straightforward name. ( . . . I think? "Isuzu" is actually a regular name as well as being tied into the month-name scheme, yes?)

The kanji characters are correct, but you might want to clarify that Haru's name is based on 初春 which means first spring. 潑 = to sprinkle or pour

*tries to wrap head around it* So . . . the first set of kanji are also read 'hatsuharu', with the meaning I thought his name has, but the first kanji for the way his name is actually *written* is pronounced the same way and has a different literal meaning . . ? (So it's as if someone took a word and deliberately changed the spelling? Or something? Does that mean his name as written has a different meaning when both kanji are read together?)

( . . . my brain is so utterly muddled today that I'm afraid that paragraph is nothing but a jumble. I've spent half of today *literally* unable to see straight, and I can't figure out why I'm so tired. >.<)

*laughs* This would be simpler if I knew how to just copy and paste the kanji into my source code--as it is, I keep getting Chris to copy them into his copy of Open Office and render them into the unicode (?) for the symbols.

Haru wet (kudan_alchemist)

(Also . . . so that means [ 初春 ] is the actual spelling of the month-name his name is based on? *frets*)

Yeah, that's basically how it works. Basically, Takaya-sensei used the names of the month as the basis for the 12shi's character names. I can't remember where, but I could have sworn I'd written a list of the different names. >_<;; In any case, it looks like she took sounds from the month name that she liked, and came up with a character name to match. Haru's name's literal meaning would be more like drizzling spring.

(Also . . . so that means [ 初春 ] is the actual spelling of the month-name his name is based on? *frets*)

That's right. ^_^

Just watched the Chinese subbed. It's definitely an intriguing ep, and most of the things you mentioned happening in the books at this point appears to have shown up. Unfortunately, Ryuuki is still a terrible idjit. :)

And he kisses Shuurei again.

-_-;; Ryuuki... I get the feeling I'll be scribbling up at least three scenes once I finish translating this episode.

And he kisses Shuurei again.

*laughs* Yup. Poor guy doesn't get quite the reaction he'd hoped for though I'm sure. ^^;

Yep, though I don't think he deserved the whack, in this case. ;)
And he got the present(s) right at last, so good on him!
