No FSU - Day 1 Meh

May 4th, 2006 (09:32 pm)

current mood: silly

Normally, I should be going *mwahahah* about going to some nice place to eat what with the FSU off galavanting with her friend in Europe, but... >_<; I'm about as alive as a doornail right now. The day before she left, she stole my watch which happened to double as my alarm clock ever since my last one died late last year and I'd never gotten around to replacing it. (Hey! It was a Japanese talking clock that told me the time, the temperature and... it crowed like a rooster! ^^; Okay, that last one almost got me killed the first time my sister visited me in Japan and I'd forgotten to turn it off before leaving for work, but hey). As a result... I'm sleeping as lightly as possible so I don't oversleep and have been getting up an hour earlier than usual. x_x Add to that that I've been reading / staying up more at night... yeah. Doesn't work. Need I say, I finally got my butt in gear and got a new alarm clock? :P

Dinner tonight was okay, but not fantastic. The male parental and I were originally considering a certain sushi restaurant but... it's a 30-40 min drive away and I'm too dead for it. Since he had a long meeting today, he wasn't too keen either, so we went for yakiniku. It was okay, but service was soooo sssssllllllooooooooooooooowwwww. -_-;; And as much as I like meat, it was way too much protein (beef, pork and chicken) and nowhere near enough veggies. Ack! I'll give that place this much though, they don't have any utensils other than chopsticks at the table, and there aren't any at the Mongolian grill / salad bar either. Today was the first day I've ever cut apart and eaten a melon slice using chopsticks. A rather dubious honour. :/

Given today's carnivore's dinner, I think I'll aim for rabbit food tomorrow. That and plenty of fruit. >_<;;

Negotiations are semi-open between myself and the male parental regarding possibly running away for 7-10 days depending on how work goes and when we can find a window of opportunity. The "where" hasn't been nailed down yet, and that affects how long. Either way, I'm thinking about running for it with or without him though. (I often threaten that). :P While poking around the Government of Canada's Travel Advisory site, I discovered that I don't need a visa to go to France, is that right?? The last time I went was when I was in high school and I needed one then so I was a bit surprised. ^^; The other thing I discovered was some weird thing about credit card use in Great Britain. Something about needing / using a pin number?? Umm.... eek? O_O

I had something I'd wanted to say about FB but I have no idea what it was. The brain has been scarcely coherent for the past few days (it's a wonder anyone understood anything I was trying to say for the past bit!) and I wanted to clarify something but... I have no idea what it was. Mrf.

Anyhow, shall see how hunting for info tomorrow goes. ^___^

Alarm clock that crowed ?! O_o Oh, I wish I could've seen that ! XD The new one must seem very dull... *cackles*

You don't need a visa to come to France if you intend to stay less than 3 months (which I assume is the case lol). All they ask is for you to be able to prove that you've got a return ticket, that's all.
Yay !! I'm so happy you're coming to France ! Where you intend to stay while you're in here ? Any chance you might come and visit the South ? ^______^

It did. >_< It crowed. (There were other alarm sounds though - thank God!) :P The new one is extremely dull. I couldn't figure out what woke me up at first, but it beeps intermittently and sounded like the smoke detector when the battery starts dying. ^^;

I'm not entirely sure yet about whether I'll be making it to France or not. The current trips concepts are:

- 1 wk in London
- 1 wk in London with trips out to Bath, Stonehenge etc. (London base?)
- ~1/2 wk in London, ~1/2 wk in Paris

Unfortunately, since we're aiming for a window while work's still happening, it has to be fairly short (max probably 10 days total). -_-;

BTW, do you have any suggestions for areas / places to stay in London? I still have no concept of the city and am not sure if I'll do the online hotel booking + flights separately or book a free tour (ie hotel and air package) instead. Thankfully, getting in to both countries looks easy with no visa requirements. Yay! ^_^
