Kitchen silliness

(Whoa! *Not* Hakushaku for a change. ^^;;)

For some reason over the past couple of weeks, I've been craving cookies and other sweets. ^^; The problem with this is that, as much as I love sweets, I don't like sweet sweets. (<--Does that make sense?)

After fiddling a bit with Ossi dei Morti cookies, I'm wanting to make things like caramels, sponge toffee, and (choco covered?) malted milk balls. ^^; Has anyone out there made any of these? Also, Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and I'm starting to debate making something chocolate for the house again. (Probably something cookie-ish since I'm on a cookie kick right now, but maybe I'll go so far as choco truffles...? It's been a few years since I last did anything, so the trauma of doing chocos / choco cake has waned quite a bit.) Anyone have any choco/sweets-making plans this year?

Otherwise, we've since discovered grinding macadamia nuts in the coffee grinder makes for macadamia butter. ^^;; It's too soft/oily a nut to grind that way. FSU spent a chunk of time chopping macadamias for cookies. :P

(I have shipping notice! *___* In a couple/few days (hopefully), I disappear off the face of the earth for a few days. ^o^ Can't wait to read about the wedding insanity~!)
