Home sweet home ^o^

December 9th, 2008 (05:13 pm)

current mood: tired

Yay, home again! ^o^ BTW Ginny, I blame you for having *twice* broken down and having poutine. Before T.O., I'd been poutine-free for two years. (I usually only crave it when the weather gets really cold and unpleasant.) >.> Fortunately, I think I'm once again poutined out and will hopefully be able to avoid it for a long time to come again. ^^;

The really nice thing about being home? I has tea! *___* I was seriously starting to climb the walls being unable to have proper tea over in T.O. Next time, I'm staying at a hotel that has proper tea service. Either that, or I'm bringing appropriate tea things (I have a tea stick somewhere here...) so I won't go quite so insane. Living off of iced tea and coffee for five days was painful, especially after buying real teas and having them sitting there taunting me... >.<;;

Highlights of the trip other than meeting Ginny would have to be Soma, House of Tea, and yarn therapy. Soma above all. :P Lowlight would be the test (ohhhh yeah, I failed that sucker). ^^; I guess I shouldn't be too surprised seeing how I hadn't studied virtually at all. Oh well. At least I'll know what to expect next year. :P

Mona, sorry, I literally died last night. If I'm not too dead from travelling today, I hope to get started on your bit tonight. ^^; Today's flight wasn't bad, but it was a touch late (~30 mins) which meant I *starved*. >.> I haven't done a midrange flight for quite some time, so I didn't think about the meal aspect. I certainly didn't expect almost everything to have dairy in it, and the vegetarian selection was less than appetising. (I'm by no means vegetarian, but I'll try anything in these sorts of situations.) Hence my breakdown into having KFC of all things. >.<;; (Ahh, my arteries and sodium levels... :P )

More later once my brain catches up with me. Not quite sure where it went. ^^;

one always ends up eating strange things while traveling home. Sometimes I wonder if all the people at fast food restaurants are on their way home from the airport.

Sorry about the poutine thing. I had no idea.

If I'd known about your horrible tea situation, I would've brought you some supplies. No tea makes me sad.

*laughs* Poutine's a funny thing. I didn't take to it at first, but it became more and more of a regular until I finally had to just say 'no, no more'. ^^;

I never thought I'd get that desperate for real tea, but it was seriously getting bad. I mentioned I used to be a coffee drinker, so I expected I could survive with that, but...... >.> Boy, was I wrong. I now know that I have about a three day tolerance before I'll start seriously climbing the walls. ^^;

I meant to tell you over lunch, but I think I got distracted, about my last morning in Paris one trip. I was so desperate for tea (not even proper loose-leaf tea, just not Earl Grey) that I actually ate breakfast at McDonald's, expecting a horrid orange pekoe tea bag. It was Earl Grey. I could've cried!

Thinking about it, I don't know if I could do another Europe trip now. Certainly not in a hostel. This is a problem. :-/

Youch! That's horrible! O_O;

Maybe not hostelling, but I'm wondering if B&Bing might be a reasonable alternative in Europe while still managing to get decent tea. B&Bs can be quite the mixed bag. ^^;

Whenever I travel now (unless it's to Halifax, where I know they have civilised tea supplies), I bring looseleaf tea and the little bags you can put it into. So as long as I can get access to boiling water and a cup, I'll be fine. But yeah, that rules out hostels, which will make Paris quite a bit more expensive. :-/ However, standards must be kept up.

Good plan. I've been vastly spoiled with travelling in Japan where they almost always serve tea (granted green) in restaurants and where you can often get proper pot service (along with a choice of variety/flavours) at cafes/dessert places. Not being able to hostel would hurt though. Europe's hotel prices can be pretty scary. >.<;
