NaNo Day 9

November 9th, 2008 (01:57 am)

Not necessarily a shout-out, but by the end of today, folks should be at 15k. I'm barely keeping up to where I'd been on day 6 (which was still vastly behind). As it is, I'm starting the day at ~8500 words. While I'd hoped to get caught up this weekend, I get the feeling it simply won't be possible (unless I lock myself up and write for 24hrs). Possible in English? Very. In Japanese...... I think my writing speed is ~1/4-1/3 what it is in English. >.> Add to that a not-particularly interesting story at the moment, and staying focussed becomes very difficult. *sigh* Still, I'm hopeful about getting through this and getting past the goal line. (I'm not beaten yet! Not by a long shot!) ^_^

Personal target for today: to reach 12k O_O;

Shall see how close I get. :P

And before I forget, if you haven't done so, y'all might want to take a moment and *back up your NaNo*! Email it to yourself, stick it on Google Docs, copy it to another USB key, print it out...... heck put it in a private post (or three) that only you can read on LJ even. You never know when something like file corruption, or worse yet, a system crash might occur. It's always good to play it safe. ^_^

Feel free to tell how your word count is going! ^_^

Next shout out will be on day 15--the 25k mark. ^^;;

Day's total: 12 482 *splat*]

Heh, we must be in synch or something, I'm also at 8256 words right now. :D

On the bright side, if you only keep up a good pace, the distance will become proportionally smaller. When you're near 50 000 words, but still behind 5000, at least you've written 45 000 words :D

Yay! Hang in there! ^o^

*laughs* True, but I'm seriously hoping to shrink that gap over a bit more time. ^_^ That plus I'm definitely wanting to end at least a few days early if not more. I'm seriously worried about how the word counter will react this year. >.>

So it's not just me! Words frozen on me every time I've copied something and then tried to cut it.

Thank God for hitting the save button! I think however, the time has come to email it to myself. Er...how do you work google docs?

15,052 and that was last night.

Depending on homework, I'll write more, tonight.

Google Docs is really easy; just go in there from Gmail or whatever. Once you're in there you can UL your doc. You can work on it online in Google docs, but... *shrug* I prefer OO to it. :P BTW, if you're using Word for your word count, you might want to double check it with Google docs. From what I recall last year, OO and Google docs had similar word counts and tend to give results close to NaNo's word counter. Word, however, often gives higher results than the official counter.

I'm seriously thinking about dubbing this year's NaNo the 5AM novel. >.> Scenes keep coming to me at that ungodly hour. I'd been wondering how to get that idiot scientist to go somewhere... >.>

The five am novel it is!

I had to download and install SeaMonkey to use google docs. *seriously peeved about that*

*blink* What's SeaMonkey? I think if you use Opera there might be compatibility issues, but I thought it was supposed to be supported by both MSIE and Firefox...? *confused*

Naru's being a pain... being a bigger than normal pain this time. Masako's being very unpredictable. I don't think I've ever written this much with or about her before. ^^; Gah, her manner of speech drives me bonkers! >.<; Good luck with your NaNo! I wonder if I'll be able to justify any translating tonight... ^_^

LOL! SeaMonkey is a browser and will support google documents. My computer flat out told me that Mozilla Firefox wouldn't support it at all. I have no clue why.

I wonder if I'll get any writing done?

*laughs* Well, you could have my situation. Bou-san's left the scene to run back to Tokyo for an emergency after getting a call from Umekichi. O_O; I really wish I could describe Naru's reaction when he heard Umekichi was Bou-san's cat! ^^;;

Wow, you're getting close to that target, I just updated my word count (yay for being a few days ahead) not to rub it in but you are doing quite well I remember one day I saw your count and felt nervous for you but you are getting close to hitting that 12k if you haven't already done so by now.

I finally found some music that keeps me writing so I just have it on repeat. Its all instrumental and I think it sounds beautiful so its been helping me with some scenes.

I hit the 20k mark tonight, I really wanted to hit 25k this weekend since thise week will be busy for me at work and next weekend I'm suppose to be super busy but alas I'm still up so I'll probably keep writing. ^_^ Goooooooooooooooood Luck!

Yay for being ahead! ^o^ Nice word count. Can I have your extra words? :P

Oof, I made it. *splat* I think ~4k is the max I can try for in J in a day. My brain's seriously mush. Hopefully I'll be fully caught up in two more days time. ^^;

Ooh, I should try putting on some music. Most of my CDs aren't on computer so I don't tend to listen to anything. Unfortunately, that also means I can end up falling asleep thanks to the sheer quiet. ^^;

Looks like you're doing great! Good luck! ^o^

Extra words! *___* Gimme! *growl*

This month's going by *way* too fast! >.<;; Just like catch-up (catsup? ...ketchup?) getting ahead can take a lot of discipline and hard work. Good luck with your NaNo! ^_^
