current mood: silly

Yikes! Run, Visa card, run! That's all I can say. >.<;

Finally finished FSU's scarf in the wee hours this morning... or maybe not so wee hours. I think it was a little after 6AM by the time I finished the last of the garter stitch border and had casting off left. ^^; I'll admit I don't mind meeting 6AM from that end of the clock cycle, but... >.<;; Somehow, I don't think it wise to meet 6AM in that fashion. ^^;

Vampire Knight continues to hold my interest. To the point where I'm trying to hunt down the manga and novel. ^o^ No idea how much we'll be able to get right away from Iwase compared to whatever I might have to order from Japan. Unfortunately, the novel seems to be out of stock at the moment and waiting for a second print run. *sigh*

Otherwise, I've been very, very badly bitten by GH doujinshi on Yahoo auctions. To the point where I seriously need to kill my buying power for a while. My problem is wanting my three favourite circles' books - NOW. *sigh* One of them is fairly reasonably priced (~1500-2000 per book) while the other two are usually much higher priced (Y2000-4000 per). This doesn't leave much leeway to experiment with circles I'm unfamiliar with. >.<; Ah well. Once I have sufficient material accumulated, I should be able to slow down. After all, the circles come out with things a few times a year at best, so I'm playing catch up right now. Unfortunately, the backlog can be bad for circles that have been around for some time. ^^;

Once I finish driving myself bankrupt this week, I'm going to get my deposit refunded so I can't do any more buying until Comiket. ......Or at least no more buying unless more of my top three can entice me out of hiding (which unfortunately, can be exceedingly easy.) ^^;

I did lose out on one auction for four new titles this morning. I'd been debating buying the books via auction (~Y8000 with auction fees, etc.) vs buying new at a shop (Y9100), but buying it through the shop allowed me to pick up a title I've been hunting for for some time but hadn't been able to find on auction on its own. (Ibara 1! Yay! [I have 2, 3-1, and 3-2] I'll finally be able to understand what's going on in this story!) I certainly can't complain. :P

As it is, I'm debating doing summaries for some of these silly things, although I have to admit, I don't have that many yet. ^^; Shall see how that thought works out. Of course, if I do, it'll probably be very heavily skewed towards those circles I like as well as being skewed towards investigative stories. :P Gee, can we tell where my preferences lie for GH? :P

Oh well. At least the scarf is now done so I can get back to a bit more typing style activity. :P First up, Mona's translations. :P Next up... depends on when Mona's stuff is finished. (Hopefully in the next couple of days.)

Eh? There is a novel for Vampire Knights? I'm aware of the manga version, but I know nothing about the novel...

Apparently it came out in April. ^_^ It's in stock at Kinokuniya in the US, but it's anyone's guess if anyone in Canada has it. Amazon JP is out of stock at the moment. *sigh*

I see ^^ If it was released in April, no wonder I know nothing about it (since I no longer have my usual LaLa fix ^^;; ) Then, I shall look for it as well...

Most of the doujinshi I own are mainly from the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series...I like the Carnival ones for all the NeoRomance series, but I've only suceeded in getting a few from HaruToki 1 and 3 series. I just found some for NeoAngelique and La Corda, but I feel the prices too be really high compared to how much I payed for the HaruToki ones. (Same seller on Ebay too!) :T

Sorry for the random rambling. I don't blame you if you don't recognize those series. ^^:;

Not like I could afford them anyways. T-T;; I'm going to a convention in two weeks, and I already don't have any cash for it as it was. ;;>>

Doujinshi prices really depend on the fandom I find. Most of the doujinshi I've bought for Saiun, Yami no Matsuei, etc. have all been really reasonable, but Ghost Hunt... >.> That one's just painful. *sigh* I can't complain too much though, brand new, the GH doujinshi I go for tend to be in the Y1000-1500 range. Unfortunately, there's often very little depreciation for GH on Yahoo. >.>

gh_naru mai head shots

Any idea why GH is so much more expensive than other fandoms? Is GH that rare? Or simply that much more popular?

It depends on which aspect you're looking at. The new doujinshi market for GH is pretty normal and like any other fandom. Some of the books are more expensive, but that's because the books themselves have more pages and are more expensive to produce (ex. Caramel Ribbon's Evening Dream - Aria of Dawn 140 pgs Y1200). Rose Moon's books are in a slightly different situation as I buy them from a used doujinshi shop that charges a handling fee to sell new doujinshi. (In this case an Y1100 book from the doujinshi-ka becomes Y1680 through the store.)

As for the used / auction market, I guess it's a matter of what the market will support. The price for doujinshi by less popular circles on auction are still more expensive than I'd expect from a used doujinshi shop, but are often relatively close to the original selling price. It's the amount some people want for used doujinshi by popular circles that is scary. The previous edition for one title that 砂上の楼閣 re-released over Golden Week (for Y1500) is currently being auctioned in the adult section for Y8000. O_O;; Of course, if you're patient enough, you'll probably run into some sellers who offer things for very reasonable prices too. The issue then is how high the bids will run. >.> (I'll admit to taking part in a fair number of high running bidding wars and losing more often than not. ^^; )

FWIW, I can see Rose Moon being so popular because they tend to be R18. :P 砂上の楼閣 and Seraphita are just that good to read. *___* (Not that I have any of Tenca's books yet. >.> I do have a number of Seraphita's that should be winging their way to me over time though. ^o^ )

Welcome back! We've missed you. Glad your fingers are free. ^_^

Too bad we won't get a second season for Ghost Hunt. I'm still hoping, though.

Re: 砂上の楼閣

Cheers! I've sent a Q to Crescent shop regarding a similar auction. ^_^ This one in particular... I do want it, but the new version is apparently 1.5 x longer after re-write. (The story's supposed to be essentially the same though. ^^; )

Re: 砂上の楼閣

*cry* As I thought, that seller's a no-go. Asks that deputy bidders (bidding services) not bid on their auctions. >.> Too bad, I would've loved to have gone for their other Tenca auction. >.<;;
