*blink* I passed

Just a quickie note that I passed JLPT-2. I was a bit surprised because I did better than I expected (especially since I expect I bombed the first reading comp question amongst several other silly errors). I guess this means I'm writing JLPT-1 in Toronto this year...? (I didn't do exceptionally well, but I did reasonably well.) Eep!

In any case, fair warning for folks over there I guess. ^^;

that's awesome!

I know someone who took it. (I'm pretty sure it was the JLPT-2) Unfortunately, she did not pass. And she has no idea what tripped her up. (She took it last year and missed the passing grade by 1%. And she said that she thought that she knew what she was doing better this year.)

Cheers! ^o^

Ouch! Missing by 1% *really* bites. >.<; From the prep work I'd done, I did find the exam a bit more difficult than what I was expecting, and it seemed to test finer points a bit more, too. The listening was at the limit of, if not a bit over, my attention span, so I *know* I'll have to take notes for the next level. (I didn't this time and heartily regretted it for a couple of q's.) Those are probably the two things I most noticed about the test. ^^; Hope she keeps at it and tries again this year. ^_^

I think it's around the first Sunday in Dec., but the actual date hasn't been posted yet. This year's test date should be up some time this month though. ^_^

Emperor Aji-tae

Congratulations, Kage-chan! That's a terrific accomplishment!

Pardon me for asking if you've already explained this elsewhere, but are you planning to teach Japanese? Or work abroad in Japan?

Thanks!

Neither actually. I'm taking the test to get a feel for my own proficiency in the language. It's not a real indication because if you asked me to *write* this stuff without a computer, I would be completely and utterly sunk. :P

lesson for today

Congratulations! I knew you were awesome ^__^ I'm working on level 2 right now, and even though I can tell I'm learning, it's so slow! I'll take it this year in New York, but I'm not counting on passing. It's ok, I'm only now wrapping up year one of my five year study plan!

^^;; I knew it was coming sooner or later, but I wasn't quite sure when it'd arrive.

Cheers! Hopefully you'll be getting good news in the next few days or so. ^_^ (I can't remember, which level did you take?)

^^;; I think if I only had to deal with one or the other of +1000 kanji or +10% to pass, I might've tried JLPT-1, but needing both makes things much more iffy. I suspect I have ~1200-1500 kanji at the moment, so... Yeah. I need to work on that a bit. ^^;; (And keigo... Doom to keigo... O_O;; ) ^^;

Are you aiming for JLPT-1 as well this year? I remember you were thinking about it.

Congratulations! I knew you were stressing about the test as it approached. Now you can shift gears and stress about the upcoming JLPT-1. :D

^^;; Well, folks on my writing journal will get more of my stressing since I'll be switching gears and am definitely planning on writing one long story plus NaNo in Japanese now. ^^; This could prove quite interesting really. I won't know where my head is until everything's over. :P

Toronto - Stained by this town

Wheee! Congratulations! I knew you'd do fine.

Tea party in Ginlandia! (And tea-store crawl, yarn store tour of Toronto, and pen shop visits galore!)

[edit: I've no idea why only "tea-store" is hyphenated. I stand by it, though. Lalala!]
