Hmm... someone decided to tag me with a meme. I'll have to think of suitable retribution for this later... *eg*

Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

Eight random facts about me/habits of mine:

  1. About the only cosmetics I'll wear is lip gloss (and sometimes concealer) unless I'm going out out

  2. Weird / dorky things amuse me to no end

  3. I love kitties even though I'm a bit allergic to them.

  4. I sometimes take antihistamines in order to knit with mohair. (Hey, sometimes you need to take drastic measures :P )

  5. I like having glasses and would rather live with them than have lasik surgery

  6. I sometimes seem to have the mistaken belief that if you stare at something long enough it'll osmose into you and you *will* understand. For some reason I haven't figured this one out yet... ^^;

  7. I'm a bit, kind of, sort of, some what, rather, a lot, completely obsessive sometimes. :P

  8. My #1 tea love is Twinings Earl Grey but I haven't had any for several years now. Death to bad reactions to bergamot! *cry*

I have a concept for my revenge, but am not sure I'm willing to stoop so low as to do something like that. :P And since I'm not above tormenting others either...

Tag: toriru4ever, ginny_t, umadoshi, hezziwig, wombat_1138, sekitx2, minkyleigh, and ichi_san :P I'm being a bit evil this time in my choices. Anyone who doesn't want to do this meme should feel free to ignore having been tagged. ^_^

Cabana boys--Ghost Hunt

You can blame yamikakyuu for the meme. This is all her fault. I told her I'd get revenge on her.

Oh, dear. I can't wait to see what vengeance you come up with.

I'm with you on number five, though. I've seen Lasik surgery and my only thought was... I'll pass, if it's all the same to you.

Shall see what I come up with. There were some interesting comments lately on my flist that has me tempted to create an utter horror dedicated to you, but maybe I'll change that concept a little... Hrm...

^^;; FSU went through lasik several years back and she's still glasses free and her eyes were much worse than mine are. (She had to wait for technology to get to the point where it would work on sight as bad as hers was, let alone her stigmatic correction.) Me, I like having glasses between me and the rest of the world. :P

I guess it depends on the person. If my eyes were worse, I'd consider it (maybe). I have a problem with being away for surgeries of any kind.

I saw sekitx2's comment. ~_~ LOL. Then again, I don't blame you.

*laughs* We'll see. I haven't finished the J version of Dance which is (surprise surprise) different from the English stories. >.>

(I almost spelt that "danse" and it looked right. Eep. Must be careful since it's not correct in English...)

When I was at the end of High School and had finally come around to wearing my glasses, I wrote a poem (I was assigned--not a poetry writer) about how I liked having them between me and the rest of the world.

And what's the big fuss about glasses anyhow? Designers make a killing off frames anyhow. I don't get what's so wrong with them.

This interests me because I keep meaning to get checked to see if I'm even a candidate for eye surgery. But I'm so horribly phobic about my eyes I probably wouldn't be able to go through with it anyway. :/

Very jealous of you folks who're okay with glasses, though. I hate mine like you wouldn't believe. ;_;

...My problem with Lasik surgery is I've seen how some of it is done and it creeps me out. It looked like the guy being operated on was awake-- I have problems with that. I had surgery in my mouth a few years ago and my dad wanted me to get a local instead of having an IV.

Well, either way, good luck!

chibi Haru Kyo Rin (roostah)

Pretty much everything about the surgery creeps me out, and yeah, I'm fairly sure you do have to be conscious. *shudders* I can't even wear contacts, and I have massive issues with eyedrops, so that gives you some idea of how much I hate having things near my eyes. And yet I keep thinking that if I could steel myself to deal with it for a few days of surgery/post-op treatment, the glasses might go away. It's a tempting thought. :/

Ohhh... IIRC, FSU was using eyedrops for quite some time after the surgery. Not only for antibi's (IIRC), but also to combat dry eyes. I think she slowly stopped using moisturising drops after a couple of years. ^^;

Apparently, she was in the final 1% where it's possible to do. She tells me her prescription was in the -12 diopter range. ^^;

I went through quite a lot of experimentation back in HS and uni before I found what I do and don't like in lenses and frames. I even tried contacts for one year until I lost my lenses. Oops. As it is, my biggest headache is having to rely on other people for what 'suits' me before I stick my nose in the mirror and try to see anything. Next time I buy glasses, I might take a digi-cam with me if some better means of letting the wearer *see* what they're buying isn't in place. ^^;

Rin conviction (Flamika)

!!! I hadn't realized people could need eyedrops for that long. *shudders* I thought it was just until the eyes actually healed.

I keep thinking I should at least get checked to see if I'm eligible just so I can stop thinking about it if I'm *not*, but it does all sound icky and off-putting. (And that's before the "what if something goes wrong?" factor.) But I'm SO sick of glasses. Mine are always smudging and annoying--as far as I can tell, it's just that my lashes are long enough to always be brushing the lenses. Grrrr.

I can't really pick frames either, for much the same reason. I have to get about an inch away from the mirror before things come into focus. Hadn't thought of a digi-cam, though. Hmm.

I think the moisturising drops were suggested for one year after the surgery but the antibi's were much shorter term. Ah, I know the hate of lashes brushing the lenses. Mine are borderline so sometimes they do it a lot and sometimes not so much. >.>

Yeah, I'd love it if shops had a simple webcam setup so you could see the image afterwards, but I suspect the digi-cam or ultra-portable laptop is the way to select frames painlessly with the most personal opinion added in. Squinting at yourself inches from the mirror surface isn't fun. ^^;;

Meme done.
If you haven't done her fic yet you could just give her the JP only version :)

Hope I have time to read IW ch8 before passing out!

GH - Yasuhara - darjeeling or earl grey?

*shakes fist* Why you this to me do? *scowly face* I'll be plotting revenge too.

I can drink all the Earl Grey I want. I just don't want, because of the bergamot, in fact. :-p

*laughs* If I have to suffer, others do too. :P Besides, there's 8x the backlash on it, so it makes life interesting. ^^;

^^; I actually don't like Earl Grey much, just Twinings Earl Grey. ^^;; I will admit that I love the scent of bergamot though. (Also something I stay well away from just in case it decides to be nasty to me.) >.<;
