Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2008 (12:56 am)

あけまして おめでとう!  今年も、よろしくね~!

The new year is here, and we've been stuffed on toshikoshi soba as is the usual custom in this household. ^^;; Apparently we won't be having o-sechi this year as the chef at the J restaurant where we normally order it is in Japan over the holidays. Oops. ^^;; ......Now if I were really insane, I'd make some comment about possibly learning how to *make* o-sechi for next year, but...... yeah, I'm not sure I'm quite that insane. ^^;; I vaguely remember my mom making it when I was a kid. ^^;

This year's fandom/geeky goals... hmm...

- finish off my NaNo novel and its spinoffs
- write at least 2 more GH fanfics
- aim to participate in GH Online 2 (Sept-Oct 2008)
- finish NaNo again this year (in Japanese in prep for)
- taking JLPT1 (ha!)

Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year celebration and best wishes for 2008! ^o^

Happy New Year chica!!!!!!! I am definitely with you on finishing the nanowrimo, I'd like to be editting it by March if I could just finish the rough draft. And I'll definitely be participating in nano again with a possible spinoff of this years.

Japanese foods sounds good right about now, I haven't had any since I left Boston. Perhaps a simple resolution could be learning how to make the osechi, give it a try at least you know. And maybe I'll get around to going back to school as well as seeing about taking some courses in Japanese. ^_^

Cheers!

O-sechi's actually a bunch of small different dishes eaten at New Year. Traditionally, the entire country basically shut down from Jan 1-3, and no one wants to have to do anything during that time, so it should keep quite well. ^^; Mom basically cooked all day for a day or two before New Year making the stuff. ^^; (These days, my Dad spends the better part of a day cooking but we don't get most of the actual o-sechi dishes. We have other New Year dishes.) ^_^

Good luck with your novel! It sounds like it's really long! ^^;;
