So far, the score is wireless router 50.5 : Shadow and FSU 0.5. *sigh* We've run the gamut of so secure everyone was on the network and no one would talk to or see one another to "default" network with no password and anyone and everyone could log in and surf away. >.<; Right now, we're sitting at unsecure but MAC address limited access. Next step is to get the bloody network secured and encrypted again without losing 'net access. *sigh* I wish there were an easier way to tell where we're going wrong with this setup, but the manual's not what I'd call user friendly. >.>

Back to the battle...

Good G-d. I wonder why you aren't screaming in frustration. Or are you?

*laughs* Close, but progress is finally being made. (Looks like we were trying to do too much at once whereas doing things one step at a time starting with getting connected and *then* going secure seems to have done the trick.) ^o^ The system has now been secured although I haven't managed it with WEP yet and *3* systems are now online. However, the desktop is only connecting via LAN and won't go wireless yet. :/ Next is to get it wireless and the last regular system and Yggy up and online and things'll be ideal. Unfortunately male parental's system is refusing to get a good 'net connect. The signal seems good but the system's just not connecting to the 'net very well. :/

Can't take the stupidity--Bleach

Yeah, I'd be screaming. My Renji (desktop) is wireless, but when my dad installed it... er... not sure what he did, but he did something funny.

Don't get me started on the wireless printer that won't acknowledge my machine whatsoever.

Good luck!

^^;; Well, it's still a bit of a pain getting the desktop on wireless, but it's looking like everything's up and secure now. ^_^ A firmware update seems to have taken care of much of the headache I was fighting with yesterday. ^^;;

That's why I let my dad get the headache XD

Yes, I'm bad.

Glad to know that you've got everything up and running. ^_^

For the most part, that is.

No good can come of this!

*pets* It's frustrating (still haven't figured out why azureus thinks I'm firewalled when I've opened the ports on the wireless and the computer firewalls), but very worthwhile - naked bed blogging! (Oh, is that just me?)

Frustrating puts it mildly. I've had the firewall/router for some time but never bothered setting it up, so... *sigh* I think the worst of working through setup was all I had was a user unfriendly (and rather techie) manual and the hardware.

^^;; FSU's system managed to get connected well enough to DL a torrent last night, but seeding speed... 6B(?)/s?! I'm hoping things'll look better today as I think we finally solved some problems late last night. ^_^

I know our firewall/router is NAT enabled although FSU had no problems with it and Azureus. Don't know if that might be an issue for you though?

*laughs* Naked or not, bed blogging/surfing and *stuff* was one of the main reasons I wanted the wireless up. ^_^ It'll be ideal once Eee comes out too. :P

nouveau geek (gleefulfreak)

I got one torrent to be temporarily green for a few hours, which makes me think I'm on the right track, but I can't get it consistently. *grumble*

Ouch! Yeah, the consistent issue really bit last night. >.<;; Mokkun was completely and utterly fine while all the others were dropping off like flies. ^^;; I still have to test torrenting on Mokkun. But it'll have to wait until I'm sure everyone's up and connected. :P

I feel your pain. I went through a horrible process trying to get my laptop to connect to the wireless network. Even now, it's not as secure as I would like it to be. My experience probably won't help you, but in case it does, here's the key I found to successfully connect. Everytime I shut down the laptop, I have to "repair" my wireless connection when I start back up. Repair is an OS provided utility. Once the repair wireless connection is completed, I can then run my wireless connection software & the hub will be visible. I'm using Windows XP Home though, so probably none of this is useful to you. :(

Thanks for the tip. (Four of the five systems being networked right now are XP. Mokkun's the only Vista child.) ^_^ We managed to get things up and running last night only to have to do it all over again when we installed some firmware updates. (Completely reset all our settings...) >.> I'm hoping the updates will take care of the issues we'd been having, but won't know until I try getting all the systems back online today. >.<;
