Time to start getting back into the habit...

July 31st, 2007 (12:20 am)

current mood: sleepy

Mokkun reached the local sorting plant today so I'm not sure when he'll be delivered. Am I being too optimistic in hoping for tomorrow as that would give me a day to fiddle around and get him all set up before doing some minor brain surgery? (...Almost definitely at a guess. ^^; ) As it is, he definitely needs to have the memory upgraded as 1GB just won't cut it. It wasn't enough for me with XP so I don't see it being sufficient with Vista. Otherwise, IFL90's refund was supposed to have been taken care of so I'll have to watch and make sure it goes through in the next few days. *sigh*

The new desktop seems to be doing all right so far. At least updating everything and getting all the programs installed was mostly painless. (The pain was all in hunting down the disks. >.<; ) Unfortunately(?) the latest version of Azureus seems a bit weird so I switched to uTorrent on this system rather than try to figure it out. (How do I type "mu" without resorting to the character set...?)

Read... okay skimmed through Zombie Loan 1 and part of 2 today. I'm not sure if I like the manga or not? There's nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't interest me as much as the anime. I'll have to see how things go with vol 3 & 4. Tonight's reading will be Shounen Onmyouji (for however long it takes to finish) followed hopefully by Mushiuta. >.> I seem to be ordering a lot of novels lately and it's starting to hurt the brain a bit. ^^; Oh well. I guess it means I need to pick up more English novels otherwise my English is never going to recover. That said, I'm thinking about picking up Hotaru no Hikari manga with my next book order. ^^;; I've been enjoying that drama a bit too much, so it might be fun to read.

Anyhow, hopefully I'll be fully back up and running by the end of this week. ...Which means not only do I have to get used to posting again, I need to get used to *doing stuff* again. ^^;; This could be interesting. ^^; Shall see how things go. :P

Up next on the to watch list: Zetsubou Sensei 2~, Code-E 4, Kagerou no Tsuji 1 (no idea what this is or what it's about). Too many things to watch again. >.

What a great birthday gift!
Plot Bunny

Yay! You're almost back! Erm...I haven't seen any of the manga for Zombie Loan. But the anime's pretty interesting so far. Episode four actually did a fair amount of research; I was impressed. They also got most of it right. XD Go them.

I hope y'all start subbing it, actually. As much as I like Mishicorps, I'm not fond of Shinsen-Subs.

Here is the dramawiki page on Kagero no Tsuji. Yamamoto Koji, best known for playing Hijikata Toshizou on the NHK Taiga drama Shinsengumi (see icon!) plays the lead. I haven't had the chance to watch it yet (am now DL), but Yamamoto Koji is an extraordinary actor and well worth watching.

Thanks for the link! ^_^ Looks like the male parental might like this one as well, so I'll pass the ep on to him. Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch it tonight. (Have you watched it yet, BTW? If so, what did you think?)

Shoumyou - spin

Yes indeed. Definitely time to be seeing Shadow around more often. *nodnod* Mokkun! (Heh, it makes me almost want one of those red computers to call it Guren. *hides*)

Mokkun - huh?

I'm not quite sure if this is what you're talking about but µ can be typed by holding down the alt button and typing in sequence 0181 and then letting go of the alt button. At least it works in every previous version of windows.

I hope you get Mokkun soon!

Shoumyou - interrobang

Nice icon. ^_^

FWIW, if she's still on a laptop, that won't work - afaik, that works only with the keypad numbers. However, it does work as &#0181 — µ. Like that. However, on a pretty macbook (or pro, as I'm using) it's a 2-key combination: µ. (I just can't give up on the OS X love - sorry for proselytising.)

Haine - Light

Actually, on my laptop, it still works except I have to hold down the fn+alt key while typing 0181 (using the corresponding purple numbers/letter keys (aka number pad)) so I figured it might still work.

And Macbooks are fun! But no matter how proficient I become on the OS system, I just can't find the absolute love for it ^__^ I think it might have something to do with the fact the programs it's geared for I have no use for. *shrug*

No good can come of this!

*nods* Valid. What programs? The major ones are all ported to OS X or have alternatives, so I'm curious.

Good to know that it works on some laptops, although I've got all lazy and forgot all the key combinations except the ones for é and è.

Murata - Geek

The main programs I use are Microsoft Word and Excel so it very well could be the fact that I can't get used to the different short-cut keys. That, and I absolutely hate how the apple key is usually right next to the space bar (If I remember correctly) which puts more strain on my hands/wrists and I have tendinitis. That, and while it's a completely fixable thing, but the standard apple keyboard has more impact on my fingers when I type. I've never actually used a macbook and have only used the desktop versions of a Mac so the laptops might be a completely different story.

nouveau geek (gleefulfreak)

Heh, well, as someone maniacal about her keyboard, I certainly can't fault you. I used to have RSI-type problems from stretching and twisting too much also, so I hear you.

can't brain today maker unknown

Ack! I missed the semicolon: µ

All dorkitude mine and not OS X's.

Thanks! That's exactly what I meant. ^_^ I almost never direct type special characters because it's a bit of a pain on a laptop, but will usually use them on the desktop. ^_^
