(From Akumu ga Sumu Ie--White Heart Books)
Naru: "After going through all that difficulty to find his body, not only couldn't you distinguish his features, he was so badly decomposed that he was little more than a waxy mummy. Not only couldn't the body be used to determine the cause of death, it was unusable for certain special examination either. And on top of that, an autopsy was impossible."
Hirota grit his teeth.
N: "Wasn't the Japanese law enforcement supposed to be the best in the world? At least if the missing persons report were immediately accepted and his body found quickly, an autopsy could've been done!"
"Now, now," Takigawa cut in between the two.
T: "There's no point saying that now, right? If you had an autopsy done and discovered the cause of death, then what? It's not like you're likely to get any strong leads to discover who'd......"
N: "That's not what I'm talking about!"
Takigawa swallowed the words he was about to say when he was glared at so murderously.
N: "Gene was a genuine psychic. What part about him saw spirits? What part of him could hear them? If a thorough autopsy were done, it might've been possible to find a clue about it. And these guys completely destroyed that one and only chance!"
Everyone there could only think that this was what it meant to be struck speechless.
"Umm......" Takigawa scratched his head. He looked awkwardly at the doorway. "I think I'll go look in on Lin-san and see how he's doing."
He was all too aware that he wasn't being very natural, but he couldn't think of anything else to say, so it couldn't be helped.
"Back to work, back to work..." Mai said following Bou-san with a fake smile on her face. And Masako followed her.
T: "You're right."
S: "Me too."
The three of them hurriedly left the room as though to escape and went down the hall towards the base.
"......What did you think... of that?" Mai asked the other two quietly.
(T:) An amazed voice replied, "In other words, he's that--a mad scientist."
S: "......From the bottom of my heart, I'm very glad that I'm not part of Naru's family."
T: "I feel the same way......"
M: "Me too."
Any way they looked at it, it wasn't very pleasant to think of family watching vigilantly for their chance to dissect them.
Coming all the way to Japan to search for his brother who'd disappeared. Opening an office, nominally working and searching various places throughout the country and finally finding the body after 1.5 years. Here they'd been impressed that he'd felt so strongly about his family to go to that extent.
T: "--Hey? If by chance we were to collapse and end up dying on a case, what do you think he'd do?"
M: "He'd do it, wouldn't he?"
T: "He'd probably do it......"
S: "I think so......"
The three of them sighed.
S: "The one place I don't want to die is in front of Naru."
T: "Me too."
I agree with the others. I'm very happy I'm not related to Naru. ^^; (Not to mention not being psychic helps.) :P
I still have to write up the scene about Yasuhara-san and tea. :P
