At the 10:20 mark, Bou-san asks Mai "did Naru also say that in your dream?" Does he say that in the manga? Does this mean that Mai has told the others she was dreaming of Naru? Did Lin hear this as well? I always assumed that Mai kept dream!Naru a secret from the others later. Does she really tell everyone about him in this case?

He doesn't say it in the manga. To the best of my knowledge, the only people Mai's told about dream!Naru are Taka and Chiaki. I can't remember offhand if she told Masako or Ayako about it by this point. This is very much an anime adaptation.

While I'm bothering you, does the Japanese manga say that Oliver Davis was given a lecturer position at a university as a result of his psychic research like it says in v6 of the Del Rey version?

......You know, the more I have to look at the last two volumes, the less I'm liking DelRey. :/

M: Eh? Come to think of it John, did the doctor say anything earlier?

J: Well... I've never actually met him before but I've heard he's supposed to be quite young...

B: He's young for a "doctor", isn't he?

J: Yes... but he received his doctorate from the Londenberg Foundation, right?

Even among Western foundations keen on researching paranormal phenomena, it's been especially active recently

They created a doctorate and award it to accomplished researchers. At universities, they've created professorships and given them lectureships there.

Dr. Davis received that doctorate; in other words, it's a little different from a regular doctorate.

*****

J: Not to mention shouldn't there have been more of a commotion when the doctor arrived in Japan?

A: True, for all that it's in certain circles, he's a famous parapsychic.

M: Eh-- He's that incredible a person...

B & A: ......

M: I can't help it! I'm an amateur!

Thank you for the quick answers. I'm going to add item one to my essay as a clarification point and correct item two in my essay to be not what Del Rey said.

I used to have respect for Del Rey for the quality of its translations because I had heard such good things about the company. But I'm really losing faith in them over these GH changes.

Cheers and an oops. I mucked up on the first line. >.> Don't read things before writing my own translation. Mai's first line should read:

M: Eh? Come to think of it John, weren't you saying something about the doctor earlier?

Except for when DelRey does a serious muck-up changing the entire feel of a scene (a la end of v 5?) the errors individually aren't that major. It's all the errors in its entirety that's very disturbing for GH's later volumes. :/
