Out of stock?! Cannot order?! Aaahhhh

January 29th, 2007 (02:29 am)

Forgive me while I scream about not being able to order this book at the moment. It seems that the latest Shoumyou is out of stock. >.<;; I wonder how long it'll take before a second printing run is done for the book. I wonder if I'll be so desperate as to try a different bookstore, like maybe one of the North American shops. I wonder if Iwase would have it?? (Desperate? Me?? Nahhhh...) Of course I've been reading the Tenko arc whatever the latest arc is completely out of order so it's a big mess in the head, but still.

Otherwise, while reading the bunko version of the manga for Ghost Hunt (yes I've collected just about everything for GH I could get my hands on except for the very first novel (long since out of print--even longer than the novel series has been out of print. Also involves a different character set from what I've read online about it) and I believe there's a reprint of the second bunko manga release. It was sold out when I tried nabbing it and disappeared for awhile as it went into a second printing), I ran into a short note that Silent Christmas was a kakioroshi SS by Ono Fuyumi which would suggest it's canon although fully an SS. ^^; The other thing I forgot about (and noticed again while reading the manga) is that there's a scene in the SS for the park story at the very *beginning* that's canon. I don't remember where the scene's supposed to be, but it's not in the anime. A lot of stuff is missing from the anime especially in the current file which makes me wonder if they're not going to reveal certain mysteries. Certainly that aspect has (so far) been carefully not mentioned as far as I can recall. :/

And speaking of not mentioned, two scenes I was looking forward to for Shoumyou weren't done. ;_; Ep 16 & 17 covered the second book of the Kazane arc (IIRC), and there's a really funny scene between Akiko, Masahiro, and Mokkun (and Seimei, Yoshimasa, and Genbu) that I was *really* looking forward to. Especially since it's probably the last major bit of comedy for the rest of the series maybe?? The second ;_; scene was at the end of 17. They pulled the scene back to the anime's concept rather than going with the novel's dialogue. I really wish we could've had just a touch more for that scene. Especially what Masahiro told Guren. ;_;

Oops. It's very late. Bed. >.

^^;; When I write at ~2:30AM that's all the detail that gets written. (Hey, I did say there was little/no detail...) I didn't have the books with me so I couldn't have written it up then. I'll try writing them up tonight though, along with starting in on the missing Rikugou scenes. ^^;

Have you ever tried ordering anything from JPqueen? Since they are a new and used store they often have also stuff in store that's out of print already. And if they don't have an item that you are looking for, you can add it to your notification list and they will email you once it comes in. Their shipping rate is a little steep, but if I look for something I can't find anywhere else I don't mind paying a couple extra bucks (but they might be just me who feels that way)

Have you tried Sasuga Books? They do strictly internet business now, but they're generally very helpful if you call or email them with a request, and will try their hardest to get it for you. They used to have a walk-in bookstore in Cambridge, MA, and I loved it.

*gawks* Masahiro words to Guren, Rikugou missing scenes... aaah! *can't wait* ^_^

You know, I'm still extremely confused. When you speak of reading the novels... you mean manga novels or written novels? I don't know why, but that just confuses me.

Hm... so the series is taking a serious turn now? Interesting! I'm loving this show sooo much it's not even funny. It really does light up my day, they're just soooo heartwarmingly cute!

*laughs* I mean written novels. When I mean graphic novels, I usually call them manga and clarify if they're English manga or the bunko version which is the manga reprinted in smaller but fatter volumes. ^^;

Shoumyou's really good in how it balances the serious and the humourous. But if it follows the novels, it'll be taking a more serious turn for much of the rest of the anime story. ;_;

As I watch GH more its sad how much they are cutting from the anime even from the manga. LKK and I have almost figured that the major twist of the story probably wont be covered after seeing what was left out in epi 15. ~grumbles~

Well, they might reveal some things, but they're only going to the end of the Yoshimi case according to the list of titles that've been released. At that point and considering how they've carefully removed any hint of certain things, it makes me wonder how much of a revelation there'll be for the series. :/ I guess there's always the CD Dramas, although that too had to cut quite a bit (incredible lot) out and really mashed the concept into the final drama (Akumu ga Sumu Ie). (I think that's what the title was).

A very interesting read. I'm glad that Silent Christmas does have some canon to it after all. I wonder whose version is closer to canon, the manga's or the anime's? I'd bet that the manga is closer.

I couldn't tell from your post, but have you read the first GH novel? Or have you read it and just don't own it? If you haven't read it, I have a way for you to read it if you'd like.

I seriously doubt that the anime will reveal the secrets about Naru. The information cut out of this story arc (specifically episode 15) pretty much rules out the secrets being explained. I'm still hopeful, just not as hopeful as I used to be. :(

Presumably the manga since the storyline was written for it.

Sorry, I wasn't too coherent by that time I don't think. ^^; It depends on what you mean by "the first novel". The very first "Akuryou" novel is actually called "Akuryou nanka kowakunai" or "I'm not afraid of evil spirits". It's supposed to be a horror story and is the predecessor for the Akuryou series, but the characters are completely different from the ones we know in the manga / anime / CD dramas. This is the book that I don't have / haven't read. The other thing(s) I haven't read is/are the doujinshi that Ono-sensei wrote long ago. There are all sorts of little tidbits of information that I'd *love* to get my hands on. Sadly, the one time I saw it for auction, it was going for >$1000. If you have Akuryou Nanka Kowakunai, I'd *love* to be able to read it. If you're talking about Akuryou ga Ippai!? which is the first story for Naru and Mai though, I do have that book. ^_^

I'm still hopeful we'll get some of the revelations about Naru at the end, but I very much doubt we'll get all of them. The problem is they're definitely cutting out some clues which really help figure things out about him even though they're leaving others in. I don't know why they didn't have Mai mention that he snapped the spoon for example, yet they kept other clues. :/

It's the novel where Mai meets Naru that I was talking about. I didn't know about the horror story predecessor. That one sounds interesting. Good luck finding it one day.

Well, the anime did show the spoon snapping off. And several anime-only viewers have picked up on the difference between the first spoon-bending and the second. So maybe the animators thought that one scene would be sufficient? I can't see how they plan to show the v8-9 story arc without explaining this aspect of Naru's secret.

The current story arc is the one that seems to have suffered the most from clue removal-itis. Not just in missing dialogue but also in scenes that didn't focus on actions the way they should have. I think this part of Naru's secret won't be explained. Not to mention the really *huge* part.

(It's kind of hard to discuss spoilers without actually mentioning the spoilers. So I hope you understand what I'm alluding to. And I hope I didn't give too much away to others.)
