And still need more help... ^^;

November 25th, 2006 (09:23 pm)

current mood: confused

Thanks for your help everyone! I've been working my way through everything and have found myself on a *Chinese* page now that seems to be what's being quoted. But since I don't read Chinese... ^^; This is the page from the "Book of History" or the "Classic of History":

As near as I can tell, they're quoting the section names from #5-#13. Can anyone help me find the English equivalents for these names?

ex. #5 Kouhan (Japanese pronunciation): 1, Five Elements
#6 Kouhan: 2, Five Happenings? etc.

Can anyone help me with this? Especially needed are #9, 11, and 12. >_<; TIA! ^__^

Okay so I TOTALLY have no clue on this subject, but I ran some of it through the translator I have on my mac, and it translated pretty well (usually its a really rough translation, but this one actually made sense), so I dunno if it will help, but I can run all the text through the translation and tell you what it gives me?

I'm a native chinese speaker, and I have to say this is really hardcore classical chinese that is difficult to understand unless you've been taught! It has a ton of meanings and it's hard to explain it on a superficial level without writing essays about it. The link above is pretty good though, and I think it should be sufficient for anime purposes; the part you're interested in is the "great plan." If you need in-depth stuff, you can contact me and I can sit down and fight through it :)

Oh, that just shot my offer of help out of the water. ;P My husband is fluent in Mandarin (and an excellent reader, IMHO) but he's no native. He's reading the Shui Hu Zhuan and took a class on Classical Chinese in college, but he still has to look up characters. Ne'mind then. :)

i can only read a few characters, so i'm not sure at all what that link is wanting you to find. but if it concerns the elements/philo and such, you can look up stuff concerning -baguazhang- i train in wushu and taiji, and the closest thing i can point you to, is this.

hope this helps in some way.
