Shoumyou ep 1 sub torrent release

November 16th, 2006 (07:05 pm)

And... "stuff #2", specifically our Shounen Onmyouji fansub project, is now underway. ^^; Yes, we're nuts, why do you ask? Ginny seriously outdid herself in putting together the notes section and this series is looking like it'll be lots of fun. ^_^

Based on a series of novels published by Beans Bunko (like Kokumono), this series is set in Heian Kyo (Heian period Kyoto). If you know Kyoto, you might recognise some of the places they mention... although I'll admit, I've never heard of Kifune Shrine until I started watching this. ^^; In the novels, this series goes for... four story lines, the first (Kyuuki) has 3 books, the second (Kazane) has four, the third (Amakitsune) has six(?), and the fourth, which is still ongoing, currently has two. There are also two volumes of short stories. ^_^

Currently, 7 eps have been released in raw format so yes, we're a little (lot) behind. ^^; Hope folks will take a look! And as always with our releases, we'll be looking for seeders to help distribute this series on torrent. If you like our release and would be willing to help, please let me know here. ^___^

Ep 1 wasn't pre-released as we went from the go-ahead to torrent release quite quickly (we don't want to overlap too much with the planned Kokumono releases), and so pushed it through. However, subsequent releases will need help, and hopefully, our workload is spreading itself out a little more evenly now that the initial crush of adding two new titles should be over... at least I can hope so. ^^;

Hope folks enjoy the episode, and do take a look at the series. It's proving to be quite interesting and lots of fun so far. ^___^

(And I hope this torrent is working...) ^^;

*sigh* I guess this is one of the mysteries of torrent. Some things work for some people but not for others. ^^;

Wow! You guys are on the roll these days, aren't you? ^^ Doing three animes at the same time is impressive for a small group, and you guys are doing a great job of it. I'll try to help seed this one but I can't guarantee as I just realized I've been seeding a lot of stuff lately.

^^; Doing three series simultaneously for such a small group is pure insanity. All I can say is, insanity doth reign. ^^;

I've added you to the list, so if you're able to help out on occasion that would be great. Don't feel like you have to seed every series and ep we do. Thanks for helping out so much! ^___^

Believe me, it's a pleasure helping you guys spread the love for these animes, that's why I'll do my best to help out anyway I can. No thanks neccessary. ^^

Btw, I'm loving the Ghost Hunt anime a lot. As far as I remember, it was actually you who got me into it when you made an introductory post about Ghost Hunt becoming an anime. So keep up the awesome work!

Happy Momiji

I was glad to see that you all are subbing this and I will be able to help seed. The definitions at the beginning of this episode were a very nice touch.

Excuse me if my ignorance is showing, but what does it take to seed something?

You need a copy of the file being distributed (released at least 24 hrs in advance to the seeding group), a bittorrent program (Bittorrent, uTorrent, Azureus...), and a bit of time and bandwidth to share. ^_^

Seeding is really easy. Essentially, what you need to do is put the file being seeded in the location your bittorrent program DLs files to, and when the torrent is released, click the link like you would to DL the file. What should happen is that your bittorrent program will pull the .torrent file, see that the .avi file is already on your computer, and then instead of DLing the file, it should automatically switch to seeding mode.

It's a bit nerve-wracking the first time 'round, but once you've managed it successfully, it's really easy. Hope that made sense. ^_^

Okay, so if I download it when it's released and then leave it alone after it downloads, that also seeds it? How long do you usually need people to seed? (Because I always leave my downloads to upload for at least a while since I figure fair's fair. :) )

It does, but the main thing with needing seeders is to have them ready to start seeding as soon as the torrent is released (hence why the file is released to the seed group 24 hours+ in advance. That file would need to be where you DL your torrents and left there when the torrent itself is released. When the torrent comes out, you still need to click that link as though to DL the file, but your torrent program should go into seeding mode instead since the file's already on your computer).

The heaviest load when releasing a torrent is early on when everyone is relying on the few people who have a complete copy. How long we need people to seed depends on the episode and series. Early eps of Kokumono, for example, usually need help with seeding for ~2hours. After that, things are generally going fairly smoothly. Later eps of Kokumono, on the other hand, probably need help for ~3-4 hours depending on how things go, but they also have much higher demand. ^_^

At the very least when using torrent, you're supposed to seed until you reach a share ratio of 1.0 (DL 1 copy; UL 1 copy). Extra seeding, especially if you're one of the first to join in the swarm, also helps smooth things out though. ^_^

Hmm... similarities would be that it's about a younger person growing up and starting down (in this case) his path in life, it's set in an ancient timeframe... there are supernatural beings...... umm... that might be about it. ^^; They aren't too similar otherwise. Some bishies, but the main character is male and there's a fair amount of fighting as well. Masahiro (the main character) is 13 at the start of the story (set in Heian period Kyoto) and there's a sweet budding romance for him. ^^; There's a lot more humour in this show along with the fighting and it's a fun side trip with some more serious aspects on occasion. It's definitely worth taking a look at. ^_^

Wolfram - Spazz

Always, always! you start subbing everything right after I start downloading and watching it all ;p Love it! I have to admit that the first episode reminded me a bit of Inuyasha with how it was set up with music and transitions, but Mokkun is just so cute and hot! That automatically makes it ten times better already than that show/manga.

Ahem, I'm really happy to see you're subbing it although by all means please take your time with all your projects! Do you even have time to keep up with your knitting? O.o

*laughs* I *really* like Mokkun / Guren. ;_;

*cry* knitting has taken a bit of an aside although I really should do more when waiting for files to compile. That's my own fault for not multi-tasking better though. ^^; I've got the slowest pair of growing socks around. Looking at it on the bright side, at least they're not shrinking. ^^;
