......The female sibling unit just killed a moth in my tea. Thank you very much. O.o

Bunged on Kokumono 15's compile, so we'll try again tomorrow. *sigh* There's still quite a bit more work to be done on that ep though.

When poking around for information on Kokumono today, I discovered that the next novels will be released in Sept. and Oct. I can't wait! ^___^ Granted I haven't been waiting so long since getting the books, but if a comment I read is right, it sounds like it's going to be really interesting. (Maskless Kijin!) *psyched*

I've been re-reading Kokumono vol 4 for the past few days without skipping anything, and apparently I did miss a few things in my original read through. ^^;; For one thing, I'd completely forgotten that we meet Kokujun in that volume and not 5. There are also a number of characters I'd forgotten about that will need to be set up for on the ever expanding character page. Eep. ^^;

And today, the French sub for ep 1 of Kokumono was released, so I decided to take a peek... Um... yeah. If I were to describe it, it felt like a weird mishmash of Ayu and We Suck's sub with a bit of difference. Since my French is so rusty, I had a tough time trying to read the subs as they flicked by. I have no idea if this sub is representative of what French fansubs are like in general but... unfortunately, I was less than impressed. I got less than half-way through the ep though, so I'll look at the rest of it sometime tomorrow maybe. :P

I wonder when I'll know for sure about the Beans and Beans Ace subscriptions. The female sibling unit gave me a bit of a heartattack when she said that Iwase wrote and would be sending one of our magazines with our Hana to Yume subscription. *sigh* They got the latest cooking magazine in. >_<;; Oh well, it's getting late so I should wrap things up and curl up with my book. :P

I get to use one of my new icons! Yay! Thank you f_ireworks! ^___^

no tea? nishikado - HYD (shabtaztic)

Poor tea! *snifl*

Kokumono French? Where do you get French subs? (Although maybe awkward translations from Japanese are not the way to improve my rusty skills. -_-)

Oh, I hope I hope I hope that the novels get licensed & translated.

Yesterday, I was talking with a friend of mine. I've been teasing him mercilessly about continuing to read Robert Jordan's books. I stopped about 10 years ago in disgust. It's a major reason that I don't like series and I do insist on stories that will end. And he got to turn it around and tease me about Kokumono. "11 novels? And still coming out?" But this is good! ^_^

(Also, since I'm rambling in your post, I just saw that Suck has released ep. 8. And I didn't post it to the community. Conflict of interest. ^_^)

Tokyo Toshokan has torrents to non-English subs too. I was curious so I decided to DL it. ^^;;

If you take a look, do tell what you think. ^_^

^_^ I figure I'll probably post a message in the Saiunkoku community once 9 & 10 have been finished. That'll give 8-16 at that point (I'll probably re-compile 12 for the different font style as well so it can be a "set"). :P

Late July~Aug will leave eps 1-7 to be finished then. ^_^

sell soul by ladytalon on obsessiveicons

I watched this, and I can't say much on the French translation for two reasons: I was concentrating too hard on reading/comprehending the subtitles to think about their quality, and it's been far too long since I've seen episode 1. (Will have to fix that.)

I noticed Kouyuu's double-take when Shuurei introduced herself, though. *pets Kouyuu* (His name is hard to type.)

"Emperatrice" made me twitchy. When you do the earlier episodes, do you know how/if you'll translate "koukihi"?

And still, although I was stumbling through French, I still found the editing mistakes. There was one point where it actually said "Dhuurei". *twitch*

I was more focussed on the technical side since my French isn't anywhere near that good. There were parts that made me twitch or gain ??? over my head and I'll definitely admit, I had a tough time keeping up with some of the subs. ^^;

I'm more inclined to leave "kihi" alone, but if I were to translate it, I'd probably put it as "my consort" and "my lady consort" for -kihi and -kihi-sama respectively. I don't like those very much though. Hence, why I'd rather leave them be. :/

And still, although I was stumbling through French, I still found the editing mistakes. There was one point where it actually said "Dhuurei". *twitch*

>_<; I noticed that spelling mistake too and it made me cringe. There was also a "Kyuushi" or something instead of Ryuushin at the beginning of the ep which confused me. I think the other thing I was starting to notice and wasn't sure about was the "tu" vs "vous" usage. I wasn't paying attention to it throughout though, so I'm not sure what was happening there. As for the actual translation, my French isn't so strong that I can be sure between a sentence being phrased incorrectly vs my not knowing the proper way to phrase it. ^^;

*agrees wholeheartedly*

I didn't think to watch for tu vs. vous. Some of the French felt awkward, but I put that down to my rustiness and the formal level of the language.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. The font used for the voiceover was atrocious! *twitch*

^^;; Sorry, novels. Only one vol of the manga has been released and it'll be a fairly slow series since it comes out in a seasonal manga magazine.

saiunkoku

^^;; I'm rereading one of your posts again.*is saiunkoku-obsessed* Why Kurou hates Shouka? Am I correct to assume it's because of Shouka's easy going personality and like you said Reishin is much more capable? Or is there other reason? Someone (*thanks Kirin^^<-if you're reading this*) from Vampire Knight's forum shared a side story of Reishin and the other brothers but it's in chinese, I was wondering if you'd read it? Also, someone's asking if Shuurei's mother is one of the immortals, the red one to be exact? is this true?*mind boggles*

Kurou hates Shouka because he sees him as incapable of doing things particularly well. Unlike Reishin, Kurou doesn't know about Shouka's past and what he's capable of.

If it's in Chinese, I can't read it. ^^; So far, I've only read what's been published in book form as well as the omake to the first CD drama.

Also, someone's asking if Shuurei's mother is one of the immortals, the red one to be exact? is this true?*mind boggles*

So far, we don't know very much about Shuurei's mother (although more might've been revealed in the current chapter in Beans) other than she was the Rose Princess of Riou of the Hyou clan. That clan is very unusual and are the ones who made the twin swords Kanshou and Bakuya (we'll see them at the end of the current story). The females of this clan though may be born with an "ability" which makes it difficult to tell for certain whether they're "normal" or maybe one of the "sen" unless the story clarifies that point. Shuurei's mother has shown up once post-death, but even she said that it was most unexpected and figured it had to do with the stormy weather. That happened in the first SS in book 6 when Kouyuu and Shuuei try hunting for the ghost that's supposed to haunt the archives. ^^;

saiunkoku

I'm such a twerp a_a because I saw Shouka I presumed the story is about him and his brothers..Gomen..it's about Reishin with Kijin before the mask and his other friend.

Shouka's family, were they against Shouka marrying Shuurei's mother?

A story about Reishin, Kijin and... Yuushun maybe? Those three went through the exams together.

From what I recall, the family didn't have any say in the matter. Shouka brought her home one day as his wife and wouldn't say anything about her lineage. But her mannerisms were such that she could have been from the most noble of families.

hime eating kombu

huh...so it's a seasonal magazine? that means it comes out 4 times a year? wow.

the magazine is going to pull from the novels then i assume. right?

Yep. Which means releases will be very slow. >_<;; Most of the manga should be based on the novels but there may be the odd omake too.

Hello! I recently became a fan of Saiunkoku and I was directed my Sakurinha here. I was wondering if you could add me to the friend's list. Thanks. ^^
