Twelve Days - Day 9...

December 22nd, 2005 (01:25 am)
rushed

current mood: rushed

Barely made it, but I still made it. :P Day 9's now up. So that leaves 3 more days... >_<;; I don't know if I'll be able to finish everything. Especially since Xmas dinner's coming up soon too and I still want to do a little more baking. (>_< Haven't I done enough damage to the waistline this year...??) :P

Want to do some snippets especially all the flower scenes in 100, and that silly, silly bra in 102! I love that scene. :P But that will have to wait a little longer. Which reminds me, there was a small error I'd made that needs to be fixed up before the next update. >_<

BTW, you know, I don't think I've ever noticed the MyLJ portal before?? I got booted into it one day and was like :o Silly me. Makes things much neater and easier to boot around. ^^;

Anyhow, hope folks enjoy Day 9. ^___^

"Haven't I done enough damage to the waistline this year...??"

HAHA ! Well I know *I* definitely have, lol. And wait, the holiday season is not over yet. I still have to think about the Christmas Log... (Christmas log - or bûche de Noël - is the traditional Christmas dessert in France. It's a cake that is shaped like a log, hence the name -well duh- XD). Both my mom and my sister hate to cook (go figure !) and everyone in the family knows I enjoy baking a lot, so *naturally* I am supposed to take care of the bûche. Heh. The thing is, given my recent baking failure in the kitchen, I still don't know if I'll bake one, or If I'll go and get one at a baker's nearby. Which, let's face it, would be a great deal easier - not to mention better tasting too. No doubt. XD

"Want to do some snippets especially all the flower scenes in 100."

Oh, that would be so great. *cries*

"Anyhow, hope folks enjoy Day 9."

I certainly did. Thank you heaps for day 9 ! *w*

*laughs* Well, over here, the more important part of the holiday season is really New Year's. We don't do much, but we do do the food aspect. Thankfully I don't do the cooking for it though. That's the male parental unit's job. :P Also, there's not much in the way of *sweets* for New Years (thankfully!)

Ah the Yule Log... I've never made one before, but I've seen cooking shows and magazines with them. I think it was Martha Stewart who did a yule log with meringue mushrooms (lightly dusted with cocoa). That was cute. ^_^

Okay... tell! What on earth did you do last weekend that's got you off kilter on baking? The cream puffs??

I'll agree, the bakery is much easier than baking yourself, and taste-wise is often better, but not always. It really depends on what's available, what's particularly good locally, and on your own tastes. Over here, it's hard to find good pastries, and cookies / cakes tend to be overly sweet IMO. Doughnuts though, I love Tim Horton's for doughnuts. ^___^ France, image-wise for me, strikes me as having lots of good bakeries and baked goods (*pastries... *___* ), but it's still fun to create on your own. Plus you get to make things your own way. Buying from bakeries won't give you the fun memories, the crazy memories, or the "oh my..." memories. ^___^

If you enjoy baking, and have fun creating, the yule log can be a good chance to get back into the groove. :) I sometimes stress myself out at this time of year because I sometimes try for too much, but if I'm having fun, I don't care. You get to try different things, make mistakes yes (those burnt almond wafers this year for me... :P ), and learn from them, and some mistakes can be tasty too (burnt sugar is really bleah). :P I'm not sure how much work a yule log is though, so I can't say about that. ^^;
