Yay! Safe! (Migawari & Saiunkoku)

October 8th, 2009 (08:27 pm)

Just peeked on 2ch, and Migawari's next story will start to be released in the Feb issue of Asuka (to be released Dec 26)! ^o^ Both Saiun and Migawari are safe and moving to Asuka. (Saiun will continue in the Dec issue being released Oct 24.)

Looks like I'll have to see if FSU can get an Asuka subscription in the next couple of months. Either that, or I'll have to see about signing up for one with bk1. (Should be possible...?) Not sure what other titles I might be interested in that are published in Asuka though. Yakumo and Maoh? Not sure if there's much else that I might be interested in. Still, it's good to know that Migawari manga will in fact continue. Can't wait to see the second novel in manga form! ^o^

That's a relief to hear! Thanks for passing along the good news. :)

Yeah, BK1 has magazine subscriptions too here (you need to be logged in). Haven't tried subscribing, though, so no idea if/how that works for foreign customers.

Hmm, I haven't bought Asuka in years, so I'm not sure if there's anything good besides Saiunkoku and Migawari. Kyou Kara Maou and Uragiri seem to be getting the most covers/furoku, but I'm not that crazy about either...

It looks like there was already a Saiunkoku chapter in the September issue of Asuka (first issue on the second row), but not in the October or November issue. I wonder if this means SM will stick with the same pace as Beans Ace and only appear in every third issue.

The instructions seems fairly straight forward for subscribing (you can even specify how many times per month you want them to ship if you have multiple magazine subscriptions), and they allow you to specify method of shipping. As it is though, FSU has already put in the subscription request with Iwase, so I don't need to use bk1. (FSU usually does the mag subscriptions while I do the major book orders. :P )

Yeah, I've only bought Asuka once or so because it had something Clamp in it, but that was years ago. I guess I'll be finding out what's really in that mag over the next while. ^^;

The Saiunkoku bit in September was actually something different. I can't remember the exact description of what was in it, but it wasn't the current manga story, more like a special appearance bit. Of course, the manga in Beans Ace that month was super short as a result. >.> I also wonder how often the titles will be showing up in the magazines. Hopefully more often that every three months, but probably not every month either. *sigh* A shame in some ways seeing how things like Hana to Yume are semi-monthly. :P

Yakumo? As in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo? I loved the 2 volumes of that that's been released. I heard it was continuing / starting up in Asuka. Didn't know that you liked it too. If I wasn't already subscribing to G-Fantasy (at a horribly expensive rate), I would consider an Asuka subscription. Even though I can't read Japanese, I like to look at the pretty pictures.

Yep, that one. I read the first novel a number of years back on a trip to Japan, but I was never able to get hold of the manga. ^^; *laughs* It'll be interesting to see how this subscription goes. The only other manga we subscribe to is Hana to Yume, and I keep thinking we should just drop it. >.> I will admit, I started reading one of the new manga in there, but... *shrug* Both FSU and I barely read anything in there anymore.

I wouldn't mind a Hana to Yume subscription. Although I would probably pick Lala over Hana first. Financially Japanese subscriptions are way to expensive to import for me. If I wasn't so head over heels in love with Zombie Loan, I'd drop G-Fantasy. But I've sworn to stick with it to the end. Then it'll get dropped. I simply can't afford it.

The Yakumo manga has been fully scanlated (except an independent story yet to come) by Fateful Encounters if you're interested. Most of the chapters have been uploaded to MangaFox as well. Not sure if the concluding chapter is there yet. But it should be soon.

Believe me when I say I know the feeling. ^^; I take it you subscribe through Sasuga? IIRC, they receive their subscription mags much more quickly than Iwase who gets their magazines in by sea (arrives about 1 month later). As it is, I'm not sure what sort of difference there'll be in price between subscription with Iwase vs ordering directly with bk1 and using seamail. If shipping weight's ~1kg, it could be fairly minimal oddly enough. ^^;

Cheers for the info. ^_^

Ah, thanks much! I'm very relieved to hear it. And it also means two chapters of Saiunkoku this month! Such riches are beyond my deserving . . . of course I will purchase and scan both. :-)

Is bk1 the service you use to get your hands on magazines? ::curious:: I don't have to worry about it yet, but in the future if I'm not in Japan anymore I might have to start casting about for other ways to continue acquiring them. It's probably not good that I've been tempted all over again by Zero Sum this month . . . DEFINITELY not good.

I remember that there were two titles in Asuka that I was also interested, and one of them was Code Geass, but I've forgotten the name of the other . . .

^_^ Do check Beans Ace and see that it does indeed go to the Dec issue for Asuka. The mag will be the best source of info for when and where things will show up. (I'd hate to find out that the listing for Saiun for the Dec issue ends up being like the Sept issue bit instead.)

We actually use Iwase - a J bookstore over in BC - for our magazine subscriptions. They get the mags in by sea and then ship via ExpressPost. If FSU didn't want to or was unable to get the subscription, then I would've tried bk1. As it is, she put in the request this afternoon, so it'll probably start up... with the Nov issue for us...? If you're comfortable navigating J sites, here's the info for bk1's magazine subscription service for overseas customers. Fortunately, my own interests tend more towards light novels these days, so I don't get too tempted by manga mags anymore. I'll admit that I used to be pretty bad though. ^^;

Otherwise, I'm thinking I might try reading *everything* in the mag once the Asuka subscription starts up. ^^; I don't know how far I'll be able to get with that attempt, but I can always hope I'll be interested in following more than just 2 titles. :P
