Finally catching up on anime watching

......FSU wanted me to knit her a scarf for in the house using a yarn (alpaca cashmere tweed) that recently came for one of her sock clubs. The yarn itself is fairly heavy, and there's absolutely no way in this world we'd make it into socks. I already have one pair of alpaca socks made from a thinner yarn, and I can't even wear them for more than half an hour. Can you imagine what would happen if I made a pair of socks from something even heavier?? I don't need melted puddles of FSU to clean up! :P

But the pattern I'm using for her scarf is extremely simple and basic that I can watch anime while knitting, so I've managed to get caught up on a few series at least. :P So far in my watch list that I'm caught up on is Vampire Knight (I'm quite enjoying this one actually; I'll have to think about whether I want to follow the manga for it as well), Nabari no Ou (...bat wings anyone?? ^^; ), and Amatsuki (intrigued by this one so far). I know there are other series I still need to catch up on, so hopefully I'll be able to do that, but... I only have one more ball of yarn left for FSU's scarf before I'm freed from catatonic knitting, so we'll see how much more watching I get done. :P This scarf was an unexpected albeit short side trip for me, so I should be back to what I was expecting to be doing shortly. :P

I am enjoying Amatsuki a LOT! It has great 12 Kingdoms/Saimono feeling...just main lead is a boy. ^_^

Joys of fandom

VK anime I haven't watched yet... I've read some of the manga (online). Nabari no Ou and Amatsuki I am watching.

Amatsuki is getting fabulous. Do continue watching. I got most of my anime recommendations from your earlier posts and enjoyed them immensely. Based on those recs, I think you would also enjoy:
Kure-nai
Toshokan Senso (Library Wars and my personal fav since its all about using military strength to protect books ^_^)
Blassreiter (I'm intrigued by this one)
XXXHolic Kei (if you are a fan. The art is improved)

I'd defo say Library Wars as the series needs more love. I'm a VK manga lover so I winced when I heard about the anime, since they tend to screw up. But, I am impressed with the 4 episodes, they have done a good job so far ^_^

For some reason I am unable to edit my post :/

Apologies for this double post. I recommend that you watch the raws for Library Wars, the subs are awful.. some sentences are left untranslated. Unfortunately for me, that isnt an option T_T

Vol10

Sorry, did you mean me or kagedreams?

If me, I have tried those shows you mentioned but I've decided not to watch them. Himitsu Top Secret is worth trying.

Hmm... let's see. I tried watching Library Wars but late ep 1 made me cringe badly, pop out of the episode and immediately delete it from my computer. I was in full 'no don't. Just don't do it!' mode. *laughs*

Blassreiter had me semi-intrigued, but more indifferent over all. I don't think FSU's interested in following it, so I haven't gotten beyond ep 1 for it. I'm not a fan of XXXholic so that was never on my list (I'm assuming it's a continuation). Kurenai... I don't remember if I tried that one or not. I'll have to double check that one.

I think I've only seen one ep of Allison and Lilia, but it had me intrigued. I was also intrigued by the previews for 20 mensou's daughter. Will have to check out Himitsu... ^_^

I tried reading some of VK manga tonight online to get a feel for the manga series, but some of what I've read is pretty rough. I think I'll have to put in an order and read it for myself. ^^;

Naru&Mai

Translation not good you mean?
Chapter 34 onwards is where get some *big* story changes (like finding out why Naru is in Japan type although more clues in VK ^^)

Will get back to e-mail tonight.

Hmm... I can't really comment on the quality of the translation itself because I don't have the original source material to judge by. But I found it a bit difficult to follow the story in places; it didn't flow / make complete sense as it were. Also there were some that had some pretty bad spelling errors in places. ^^; I haven't made it quite up to ch34, so we'll see how things go with that. I did find an auction for the manga if I want to go that route, but I haven't decided yet. ^^;

Cheers! ^_^

*twitches at the idea of thick socks and wool-like materials* In my climate, you'd die of heat exhaustion. (Granted, it’s only ~29’C/82'F at the moment, but that’s still far too warm for alpaca.)

Heehee, now I'll throw my anime opinions into the mix. ^^

Vampire Knight - I've read some of it in Shoujo Beat. I'd say the manga and anime are equally good, so far.
Nabari no Ou - Agreed. Bat wings, definitely! Yet it's not afraid to get bloody turn serious. (The background art is nifty. Reminds me of Otogi Zoshi’s.) The manga for this will be published in Yen Press' new magazine.
Amatsuki - Yeah, this one's caught me, too. Those little songs are haunting. (Like the temari uta from Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto.)

Kurenai - Don't know where this one is going. There's plenty of plot for it to build, yet it does well in slice-of-life mode.
Toshokan Sensou - A ridiculous plot, and fully enjoyable. Certain elements remind me of the light-hearted sides of Fullmetal Alchemist and Pumpkin Scissors. (However, I'm still getting used to the thick lines around the characters.)
Blassreiter - Casually watching the official streams for this and Druaga no To. They're both decent. Blassreiter is serious/sci-fi and going somewhere; Druaga no To... varies, but it's mainly parody. (The Neeba part in 5? *slain*)

Additionally, I must mention:

Allison to Lillia - Adventure! Airplanes! It just gives a wholesome, good feeling. ^^
Nijuu-Mensou no Musume - Adventure! Thievery! Aircraft! Another one I'm loving. ^^
Sword of the Stranger movie - I'll be giving this as a gift when the DVD comes out here.

Of the new anime, I am most excited to watch four: Nabari no Ou, Allison to Lillia (sub-only), Nijuu-Mensou no Musume, and Amatsuki.

In the next tier: Druaga no To (sub-only), Blassreiter (sub-only), Toshokan Sensou, and Vampire Knight.

And in the final tier: Crystal Blaze (sub-only), Wagaya no Oinari-sama, Kurenai (when I find sub I like), and lastly, Special A (sub-only, but I prefer the manga).

Not following the others or any continuations at this point. *shrug* As for dramas, I haven't found any especially appealing this season. Puzzle is okay, but Liar Game and Galileo were more fun. Any drama recommendations?

... In counting the hours implied above, I’ve come to understand why my TV is dusty. ^^

Yikes! I'd hate to have anything remotely warm for those sorts of temps! O_O;;

I haven't found any dramas this season but haven't been looking very hard. ^^; I really must look around more for something on that front. ^_^

Sorry, I meant kagedreams ^^;; I actually got into watching anime becuase of kage#s posts about Ghost Hunt. Checked it out, loved it, then came Seirei no Moribito, Saiunkoku etc.. ^^;;

Oh I wonder how I missed Allison to Lillia it is extremely engaging a series as well :) Cant believe I missed this one.
I enjoyed the first two-three episodes of Mensou-Musume, but Chika's development was a bit too convenient by episode 4, considering she's only been with the group for a year...
I do want to try Himitsu. I believe the manga was excellent, but gory, which is why I'm avoiding the anime ^^;;
I'm glad ladymyst, you also enjoy Library Wars. Pity really, since loads of people I know dont like it. The SD characters are hilarious and the banter between Dojo and Kasahara is highly amusing. I love her character - she's one strong female lead who isnt afraid to dropkick her own instructor ^_^ Pity this series is only 13 episodes long T_T

Nijuu-Mensou no Musume - Mmm, I was expecting the time skip. *removes possible spoiler for Ep.1, as is unaware how to edit/make text-cuts in a comment*

This series is based off some older Nijuu-Mensou property. I wonder if it's a retelling, or if this uses the Chiko character to further explore Nijuu-Mensou's. (Heh, does he have a real name?)

Toshokan Sensou - Yeah, it's the character interaction I'm enjoying, too. Only 13? Is there a manga? >.> (Then again, Bus Gamer was only 3 episodes, and was more like an OAV/advertisement for the manga... so I shouldn't complain too much. >.< )

I've found four subs for ToshoSou, and there ought to be a fifth coming from the group that did La Corda d'Oro. I haven't seen Frothbite-Menclave's version, but that might be your best bet at the moment. Hope you find a decent sub to enjoy! ^_^

Himitsu ~ Top Secret: Revelation - Gory? The anime struck me as being fairly clean. I mean, if you survived Ghost Hunt and -that bathtub-, the first two episodes of this are just fine. ^^ (I have no idea about later eps.)

To be completely truthful, I am watching other anime than the ones I listed. I forgot about casual stream-site browsing. >.< None of it is new anime, though.

There IS a manga for Library Wars :D In fact, there is a shoujo version AND a shonen version much like Escaflowne.
The shonen version is apparentlymore faithful to the books, whereas the shoujo does tend to emphasise on the romantic moments ^_^
Unfortunately, neither are being scanslated T_T I am actually waiting for Impz's fansub to come out. He's bound to do a fab job of translating. Trouble is it is being slow ^^;;
The anime is doing a good job of mixing shoujo and shonen. I have a feeling I know who might be Kasahara's prince already :P I blame the "Prince" beer they keep showing around the guy.
Well, Ghost Hunt had a good dose of humour. We had some fantastic chemistry between the characters which kept me entertained. Plus, I often read episode synopsis beforehand, so I could prepare myself for the "creeps."

Let's see. My top recommendations to follow this season are Vampire Knight and Kurenai. Though I only saw an episode of Kurenai and decided not to follow it, I do think you might like to watch that one.

Other than Vampire Knight, I'm also watching Special A, Wagaya no Oinari-sama, Neo Angelique and Junjou Romantica.

Special A and Junjou Romantica are pretty fun to watch. They're quite light, funny and adorable. You might enjoy those too.

As for NeoAngelique, there are hawt bishies, 'nuff said. ^^

Wagaya no Oinari-sama, on the other hand, has this sort of soothing anime entertainment.

Re: Rose Moon new ones

The first is the re-release of Spiral Mirror (new for SCC). The auction's basically at the upper limit of what would be worth paying for me since they're available new for ~Y4100. (After auction fees, shipping, etc. are added in, it's not far off that price before shipping over here.)

That one's winter (I have it). Again, price has been jacked up for auction. It's available new from Meikido for Y1680 IIRC. :/

(I'll be picking up all four new releases for Rose Moon later this month. I'm not sure if I'm hoping they get some used doujinshi in or not considering how much those four books will cost. >.> )

GHOST HUNT

Ah, ok. I don't know them like you do (with novels there isn't much point for me to).

I see you are going for it ^^

Re: Rose Moon new ones

*laughs* Yeah. The bad thing is I've lost every single auction I've bid on for this circle so far. >.> They tend to run into the low to mid 3000s (and higher) when multiple people show interest. *sigh* (That's okay, have you seen the prices for some of Tenca's (砂上の楼閣) doujinshi in the adult section?? Yikes!)

My primary want circles would be 砂上の楼閣 (the circle for the auction I linked and the same one that did Between the Sheets), Seraphita (the one I'm begging you for and the circle Mona bought a doujinshi from for me last summer ^^; ), maybe High Risk (the joint group for 砂上の楼閣 and Seraphita), and キャラメルリボン (Caramel Ribbon).

Thanks to Yahoo Auctions, I'm trying out 竜's, Twins, and The Fool, but haven't gotten hold of anything by Twins and The Fool's joint group 極楽極悪. I actually might go for the Rose Moon doujinshi link you posted. I just realised I can't do math. New, the two books are a little over Y5100. ^^;

FWIW, manga-wise, I'd say my fave is probably Funaya (group that did If). I only have one doujinshi by 幸福勧告 so I can't comment much on them, and 801 club isn't bad. ^_^ Transistor Idol has good art, but their parody stories can be a bit weird. ^^;

Re: Rose Moon new ones
Naru&Mai

Didn't I send a Twins one?
How about Castle & Tower? Read any by them?

Ouch on the prices yes. Oh, Transistor Idol's VERY black 4 book set is up in adult section 10000. Scarier than the parodies.

This one I saw earlier I became tempted... novel most likely though
ゴーストハント同人誌「Pinkish Heaven」竜’s真田一至

At least the new RM is in the regular section (but shouldn't be)

I wish this wasn't a novel:
http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m51768872

Few more new books:
http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e80691593
http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k57736683
http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m51904172

I recognize but don't know the names of the groups I've liked (besides 801 Club) ^^ Some of Momoji's I like. Couldn't find examples of other circles I have.

Re: Rose Moon new ones

I think the first one you sent me was by Twins. ^_^ Castle and Tower... I don't have any of their doujinshi in my possession yet (won one by auction, but haven't had it shipped yet), but I've read some of their stuff online. Lots of stuff varying from investigative, fluffy (their Boku to Atashi series was really cute; written from the viewpoint of Naru and Mai's kids), alternate universe (Neo Merodoramatic - I think that's how they spelled it...), and even some R18 stuffs. :P What I've read online has been quite good; I'd put them a touch lower than Rose Moon on my list of wants. I think all their stuff is novel though. ^^;

Re: TI
*laughs* I have the third book in that series, but it makes *no* sense without knowing what happened beforehand. Not sure I want to try collecting the rest of the doujinshi though. ^^;

Pinkish Heaven is apparently a collection of short stories, but yeah - novel. ^^; Don't think I'd pay quite that much for it though. *laughs* (I'm intrigued by the circle, but to pay that much... Natch!)

You're really curious about that one, aren't you? Hmm... I could try nabbing it from the current bidder (although there are other copies in the area going for Y400 more). The problem with that title is that some people don't want auction deputies to bid on their things, so I have to watch out for that.

What about... てのりねこ? A bunch of their stuff went on auction last week or so, but I'm not familiar with their work. Have you tried them out? (The one title I know they did that's still up is 'I Do Not Like Thee Dr. Fell'.)
