Scherherazade's Slippers *sigh*

April 15th, 2008 (09:31 pm)

Ugh. Woke up with a sore throat yesterday, still had it today with a headache and chills added in. Of course, it did snow today, so the chills could be anything and the headache could be weather related. *laughs* Either I'm in denial, or I'm coming down with something. Will probably know better tomorrow. ^^;;

Working on the slippers some more and I'm not sure what's happening. I've spotted issues with rows 45 and a probable stitch mistake in 53 (k2tog should be SSK), but now I'm stalled at 65. I think someone on Ravelry mentioned running into a problem there and eventually frogging. >.> Hopefully the brain will kick in. The working stitch # is as listed (42), but from what I'm reading, you need 44 to work the pattern, so the question is does r63 need to be fixed or...? Not sure yet.

ginny_t, have you reached r65 yet and did it work for you?

Otherwise, a bunch of doujinshi arrived yesterday from Japan. Yay! ^^; Unfortunately, I've managed to read through almost all of them. O_O;; I think I need to find more to read. ^^; Back to staring at the pattern. *sigh*

[ETA: Never mind. Found the problem. >.> ]

[ETAx2: NTS: r65 mirror left on right; r67 use k2tog and SSK where removed in r65]

Re: *perks up*

*laughs* Believe me when I say I definitely want to get back to translating. My J is dropping faster than... well super fast. @_@ Hopefully this weekend. I want to get these stupid socks' heels done first. (Should be able to do them tomorrow or Thurs. Once they're done, I should hopefully be in the clear. ^_^ )

*blinks* You woke up with a sore throat, too?

I didn't have the headache or chills, although my head's hurting a bit now. But that I blame on work and morons.

Yeah, I'm wondering if there's some bug going around right now. >.> The throat issues seem to be wanting to migrate to the ears which would be bad, otherwise I'm with a mild cough. Hopefully, things'll remain on the mild end. ^_^

Has it been windy where you are recently?

Um, not so much windy as it's been up and down lately. It was 25 recently but will be back in the minus range (with snow) this weekend, so we're having some definite ups and downs this year. >.>

Hope you're doing better. ^_^

Weather in your area= yucky.

It's been very windy down here in the desert and the pollen's been simply awful.

And you. Here's to vitamin C and loads of tea!

(Good luck with the socks!)

Oh! Saline spray's been helping my throat. Doctor's office also suggested gargling with salt water and a mixture of water(?) and apple cider vinegar? I think I'll pass the vinegar gargling. ~_~

Thanks for the tips. ^_^ Sadly the symptoms are slowly getting worse. I'm hoping they won't get too serious by the time the immune system (or lack thereof) kicks in and starts to fight this bug off. As it is, I'm not that sick, but I'm not a happy camper either. I think this is the first bug I've caught in ohhh 8-9 years now. I guess I was a bit overdue. :P

tea

Hope you're feeling better today! *pours tea*

I haven't reached r65 yet. I haven't touched them since Sunday (Mystic Light has stolen my soul back, snatching it from the socks saying, "Mine!").

(Tea! Actually, I'm living off of lots of liquids as well as honey & lemon drinks.)

Lucky you. I think I'll do r65/67 differently on the green socks as they haven't reached that point yet, but Jitterbug's heels've now been turned. ^_^ 104 more rounds of patterning before I hit 3x2 ribbing hell. ^^;

So, any advice for rows 65&7? Please!

Poor Shadow. Pesky cabana boy should be there looking after you! hmph!

First advice would be to make sure you use the chart from... week 3? The one that has the chart starting at r59 and not from cast-on. The one from CO is out of date at this point. >.>

The way I did the chart originally was to do the following:

r65: [k4 YO SSK k5 k2tog YO] k3... (mirror change on left)
r67: [k4 YO SSK k3 k2tog YO] k2tog k1... (mirror change on left)

[] = as per chart

What I'm considering is to join the two changes into one such that r67 would be as charted and r65 would be [...YO] k2tog k1 k2tog (mirror change). I'm not sure if you need to keep that part with four stitches for that extra row to keep things looking neater or not. (Still haven't worked on the green guys get them up to speed yet. I also haven't read through the pattern to see if the stitch count would add up with that, although I *think* it should. ^^; )

Quick note: I just did the alternate r65 on the first Confetti sock and it looks fine. I'd go with it and skip changing r67. (BTW, apparently I can't read charts, the row starts "k3". >.> )

I think 3-4 more pattern rounds and I'll be ready to turn my first Confetti heel. (Don't ask where the other sock is.) ......Why am I doing two pairs of Scherherazade's Slippers...?

Instep only chart that starts with r59, mistake in r95 (k5 should be k4). Error not on chart with both instep and heel stitches. Once I hit r105 (not tonight I'm not) I'm going to work on the Confetti version. ^^;

Enjoy!
