Good or bad? Definitely Bad... >.>

April 11th, 2008 (11:39 am)

So, I've finally caved in and am trying out an auction service so I can buy things from Yahoo Japan's auction site. I think this is an extraordinarily bad thing for me to do, and I'm going to have to kick myself off the service. I mean seriously! The temptation is horrible!

I don't know if anyone remembers this post, but... temptation won out, and I bought two volumes of RichMore magazine, for what will probably be ~Y2000 each once all the service charges are included (but not including shipping). If only the magazine were available from Amazon, I could include it with our book orders here. *sigh*

Oh well, it's interesting to see doujinshi both really cheap and super overpriced. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm being exposed to doujinshi circles I've never heard of, and there's even one with some (what looks like) LinxNaru that I'm *sorely* tempted to pick up; it's by Inada Shiho herself. ^^; There are a couple of other doujinshi by her that I've found as well as one that's thought to include some work by Ono Fuyumi; that one's supposed to include the preface to Naru's paper regarding the paranormal. (It's also supposed to include some stuff about Naru's childhood.)

I should never have gone wandering into Yahoo Auctions. I could've lived in blissful ignorance. >.<;; I suppose the good thing is that these doujinshi are a lot more affordable than the one that's supposed to include a number of short stories for both GH and 12 Kokuki, but... *sigh* I am *not* giving in to temptation... I hope. (Actually, I can't afford to give in right now. :P I just don't know about when my birthday eventually rolls around. It could be bad if it's still available then. ^^; )

*laughs* At least most of the Saiunkoku doujinshi are manga and reasonably priced. The GH ones are mostly fics and the prices are spiraling out of control. >.> BTW, are you checking Meikido for Saiunkoku stuffs? That's always a good place to check out. (Unfortunately, there's not much stuff for Saiunkoku overall in either place. >.> )

But wow! there's a lot of EnseixShuurei in the adult section! I think what surprised me most was Ryuuren x Hakumei. ^^;;

*poke* We needs decent fics. Please help. =P

Actually, I have a question for you. Do you know where I can obtain metal hair chopsticks at a reasonable price?

^^;; Just because I'm having fun hunting for decent fics... :P

"Metal hair chopsticks"...? Umm... no idea. Sorry. ^^;

BTW, is it me, or is it still really hard to find decent fics for GH? >.> I was hoping thing would get better with the beta readers bit but... *sigh*

Hair chopsticks at all, really. I can't use the "trendy" ones in the malls because my hair's too thick.

It's still hard to find decent fics. They're still pitiful-- even with the introduction of beta-readers. I assume that most writers really aren't taking advantage of the new beta reader features.

Sad, really.

Any luck searching?

BTW-- IW and GW?

The only thing I've seen about hair sticks is actually using shawl pins in your hair, so they tend to get a bit pricey. ^^;; FWIW, both Designs by Romi and Leslie Wind have pieces that have such dual uses, but I have no idea how well they'd work. (I have one pin from Romi but haven't bought anything from Leslie Wind yet.) I'm trying to remember places in Japan that have traditional pieces (usually lacquer ware), but can't remember anything offhand. The Kyoto craft centre maybe...? But there again, with truly traditional pieces, they'll have a price tag to match. ^^;;

[ETA: Apparently, I shouldn't check Yahoo Auctions. There are a *lot* of hair pins there. ^^;; I just did a base search for 簪... (A couple of links I hit were for antiques though.) Either way, that's probably not what you had in mind. ^^; ]

Luck searching in Japanese? Lots. In English... >.> Actually, there's one story I decided against buying but was again *so* tempted. It made me think of you because Lin was having a bad day. ^^; The poor guy was so tired, he accidentally put sugar in his oolong tea and ended up summoning the tea fairy... ^^;;

:P

*bursts out laughing* Lin put sugar in his oolong tea and summoned a fairy! That would be one flummoxed person! Poor man. ^_^

Yahoo auctions can be dangerous. =P Have lots of fun!

Those are pretty pins, actually. But wood would be killed in my hair. I think I'll drag dazi_rani shopping at the mall-- there's a kiosk there that sells pretty hair stuff. Maybe I can find something there.

But thanks for the links! I think I'll bookmark them in case my mom grows her hair out. I can get her some hair pins when she does. ^_~

^^;; Yep. It's a story by Caramel Ribbon - Once Upon a Time.

Take a white tea cup,
the magic of the golden moon,
the gentle stir of a silver spoon......

And so the tale begins.

:P Oops. I misremembered. Apparently he made Dragonwell tea! That's even worse! ......Actually, come to think of it, that would be a difficult thing to have happen since it'd be very unusual to add anything to that tea. ^^;

But yeah, most of his initial reaction was all about how he must be dreaming because it's more probable for him to be dreaming than for the strange creature that was there by his teacup. ^^;;

Well, wood has a lot of tensile strength. Heaven knows how my current DPNs are handling my abuse right now. ^^; Come to think of it, heavier DPNs would work too as long as you used blunter needles, but that'd be exceedingly plain. You'd need to jazz them up a bit. ......And I think I've been knitting a bit too long if I'm starting to think things like that! >.<;;
