Rippit! Rippit! Grrr. Stupid. Read the pattern! That's not a YO; that's a m1! >.<;; *sigh* At least I only made it to row 15 before realising I was misreading the pattern. Of course this is while I was struggling with my first pair of toe ups... >.> Yeah, auspicious start for these socks. On the plus side, Jitterbug is nice stuff. ^_^

Otherwise, I finished my petroglyph stockinette socks yesterday and they're now waiting their first bath before getting worn. :P The Amethyst socks FSU made me were washed this weekend. Whoa, Sea Wool reeks of wet wool; it was pretty nasty. O_O;; Hopefully it'll lighten up after a few washes. Unfortunately, some of the dye did come out in the wash, but it's still nicely purple. ^_^

*laughs* Maybe in another day or so. I had nothing but wrinkled spaghetti for most of tonight and am only just getting back on track. ^^;

^^;; I've been gaining new socks! ^o^ (Two pairs in one week! *is very spoiled* :P )

Actually, my brain went off on vacation without me, and I'm trying to figure out how to lure it back. ^^;

But socks are good. Socks are important. Especially if you're like me and prone to get cold feet.

Mine's been on writing withdrawl. ~_~ It's been painful.

Cold feet is definitely not an issue for me. ^^; FSU knit a pair of alpaca/mohair/wool socks for me, and I can maybe wear them for half an hour before my feet cry for mercy. ^^;; I figure they'd be great if I ever decided to go snowshoeing up in the Arctic or something. ^^;

I *finally* reached the end of the first chart. *sigh* I should've been at this point yesterday, not today. >.>

Yes pictures. The Ginny demands them. (And I just did pictures, so it's not even hypocrisy.)

I had a case of the stupids with Mystic Light. I hope I've got it under control, but I won't know until the next clue comes out. *fidget*

^^;; It's funny, what with cell phones, and laptops having cameras attached, the one device I cannot find is my digicam. ^^;; Will try stealing someone else's once I have more than a couple of inches done. (Petroglyph and Amethyst can probably be done this weekend though. ^_^

Yesterday's frogging was completely avoidable if I'd only read the stitch descriptions and made colour copies of the pattern. I only did B&W and assumed I was reading the graph properly. >.> Boy did I learn otherwise when things were coming out holier than expected. *sigh*

That's okay, I ended up tinking for most of today because I wasn't sure about how the side stitches were being done and ended up trying two variants. >.> Went with one, but the other might've been better. I'm not going back now. The good thing about the stupids is that I learned how to pick up dropped stitches that ran away. ^^; (I'm working on Scherherazade's Slippers BTW.)

Good luck with Mystic Light! Hope your case of the stupids is gone. Me, I'll be fighting with it for a bit yet. >.> (FSU keeps waiting for me to either get places with these socks or to give up. I'm feeling a bit too stubborn for the give up route right now. ^^; )

Oooooh, how're they looking? I'm going to cast them on in the next few days. (Something more mindless jumped their place in the queue.) That chart is a little ugly.

Alas that learning to pick up dropped stitches is an important and necessary skill. *sigh*

Share with me the wisdom of your side stitches! Pleeeeeeze?

So far, it's looking pretty although my SSKs are a bit messy. >.> The pattern *shouldn't* be that difficult except that it leaves some things assumed/unsaid, which is a really bad thing to do with me. I would suggest going with a finer gauge yarn though. I'm pretty much on 7.5 stitches/inch and it's looking a bit big at the moment. (I take a 6-6.5 shoe size FWIW.) I'll know more about the size once I get the heels done.

As for the sides, I think I made things more difficult for myself by doing the soles first and instep second. If you do the instep first, the sides make sense as written, but I went the other way and the edge stitches suddenly weren't making sense, so I ended up playing between k2tog with the transferred stitch or not and worked end stitches vs non.

I think the biggest headaches I've experienced so far could've been avoided if I'd done the instep first rather than the other way, made colour copies of the pattern rather than B&W, and read through all the stitches and taken note of weird spots (double purled m1's...) before plunging into the project. ^^;

I shall read the pattern carefully, then. The transferred stitches are going to make things a bit tricky for me. I'm going to try to do two socks on magic loop, which really doesn't like transferring stitches. But I'm very stubborn about knitting socks that way.

I hope your size works out!
