*blink* The drawbacks to living "overseas"

Okay, so I was bad today at lunchtime. I decided to pop in on a whim onto Meikido's site. (For those who don't know, it's a used doujinshi seller). I first ran across Meikido... 6? more? years ago when I was seriously into Yakumo Tatsu and YamiMatsu and bought a bunch of doujinshi from them. So, going back after not having made a purchase from them for a few years was a bit weird. The site's obviously changed a bit over the years, although fundamentally it's the same. What surprised me was that I couldn't order certain items. They feature "new" doujinshi for certain circles and they have a new section for Ghost Hunt. (Gee, I wonder what I was looking at and why...) So I decided to pick up one by Rosemoon (a doujinshi-ka that I like), as well as Transistor Idol. TI has a lot of good fanart on the web and also write stuffs, but surprisingly I couldn't order their things new. I could only purchase what they had available used. (I double checked by logging out and checking the site, and logging in and checking.) This also means I couldn't order one of their doujinshi but I didn't mind that so much (it was a Lin x Mai story). Sadly, they didn't have things by most of the doujinshi-ka that I *really* want the books to (Seraphita's Rinko, Traumwelt's Tenca, Sweet Plan's Honami, and many many more). >.<

Shall see how this order goes. They've always been really good about their online orders, so I don't expect anything unexpected... unless CanadaPost gets weird about it. Rosemoon's doujinshi is apparently 308 pgs and not for those under 18. ^^;

Wow, the English side is hard to navigate. :/

*laughs* It is. This is one of the few sites where I pretty much don't bother looking at the English side at all. It's almost like they put the site through Babblefish. (Can't be Bablefish.) ^^;

Furuba trio human (never_minding)

They wouldn't happen to have Furuba stuff, would they? (I'm assuming those're getting harder to find, and I don't think the ones I'm interested in have ever been common, though. Woe!)

Wow, I didn't realise that trying to use the site in English put you in a long loop to the J site. ^^;

They have some stuff (11 items), of which only 2 have photos of the covers. I can't direct link since it's a search frame.

Basically, if you go to the Japanese version of the site...
- there's a button on the left that says ショッピング (top button on the second section of the menu bar), hit that, then
- are you over 18? Yes/No

You'll then be on the main shopping screen. There's no FB section, so you'll need to check the first check box (全ジャンル (all genres)) that's in its own section.

Down at the bottom of the page, there are some entry lines. In the first one (タイトル) enter "フルーツバスケット" (no quotes)

In the first drop-down menu, use the last option (すべて)

Then hit the search button "商品を検索する"

You'll get a list of the different books with that title. In the first column, anything with a camera by it, or blue, will be a photo link. Basically it lists the item no, image availability, genre, title, circle group, author, content (novel, comic, etc.), price, comments, number available, and a check box to select the item. (Oddly enough, if you're ordering things, you have to have all the items you want to order checked. Their shopping basket is weird about adding more from the same screen. It might take a bit of fiddling around to get used to if you find some things you want.)

Anything with "(フルーツバスケット)" in the title should be fine. With parentheses means that's the content (or one of them if multiple titles are listed), without the parentheses, it'll be the name of the book and there's no guarantee it'll be FB. The comments section will usually tell you which charas are in the story or if the story's 18+. ^^;

Hope that made sense. ^_^

Rin & Haru strangling (squareitup)

It did make sense, yay! *hugs* I was fine until I tried reading the comments on each item. ^^ (Although I can read 18+.) I don't *think* I see Haru or Rin's names in there, alas. (How would they be referred to? I know I can read "Rin", but I might miss "Isuzu".)

Hmm... just to a look at the comments, and it's mostly "All Chara" オールキャラ, although there's also one that's a "gag" ギャグ. Since their names aren't written, I'm not sure how they'd be referred to, but since Yuki and Kyo are written in kanji, maybe by "Hatsuharu" and "Isuzu" or similar.

Shoumyou - interrobang

Wait, Lin x Mai? Not all doujinshi are smut, right? Right? *whimper*

(BTW, have you watched ep 20 of Shoumyou? Is that as evil a cliffhanger as it appears to be? *fret*)

Why is this the cliffhanger day?! Why?! *pout*

Umm... not all doujinshi are smut, but this one was labeled 18+ so I'd bet it was smut. ^^; Mai's paired with pretty much everyone in GH including Lin, Bou-san, and even Hirota--a character from the very last novel. Still, the most common pairings are:

NaruxMai
YasuharaxMasako
BouxAyako
LinxMadoka

Haven't watched it yet, but I suspect I know where it ended. (I'm hoping to watch it once I finish all the Kokumono edits). The final ep per book is always the title of the book, so it should've been the last ep for the third novel to this arc. I suspect a little carry over will happen in the next ep from the novel if it ended right on the cliff-hanger, but hopefully it means that they'll be spending 6 eps on the final book for this arc. It was two disks long for the CD dramas. ^___^

Hey, at least you're up-to-date. ^^;

GH - Nevermind

But Mai & Bou-san are big brother/little sister! *scolds*

On the other hand, aside from not wishing Masako on Yasuhara (although he has to be treated with caution, too), those common pairings are pretty plausible. But then, considering that you blew my Lin theory to bits so casually, I know nothing. *cries*

^^; Or father/daughter, but that doesn't stop people. ^^;

Yasuhara's downright spooky. ^^; I love him in the final book from the teen's heart novel series and his "important matter of business" or some such (can't remember the exact wording). ^^;;

But then, considering that you blew my Lin theory to bits so casually, I know nothing. *cries*

*blink* Apparently without even realising it...?

See how tenuous it was? (All based on my fuzzy understanding of "mukashi". And probably influence by my take on the current case. However, as that's all based on a possibly-to-probably-random "apparently"…)

Hon, you keep dropping hints like that Yasuhara one, I'm gonna keep adding to my wish list. I'm just warning you.

Just a tangent question if you don't mind. ^^

I was sort of going to ask if it'd be okay for me to put Shadow Dreams as a special-feature-of-the month in my in the first blog I've ever made. And if it is okay with you, then I'll ask you with only one question. ^^

I'm just wondering how you started Shadow Dreams. Were you blogging the SD stuff before deciding to translate them for others then became a fansubber, or is it another story?

(Please e-mail me your reply)
